Invariably some well-intentioned str8 people will say, โwho cares, it shouldnโt matter!โ Except, it DOES. Representation effing MATTERS! Iโm a 53yr old gay man who came out at 26 because my white-privileged world had zero examples of gay men who were NOT some Hollywood writerโs stereotypical homosexual man who lisped and wore crazy clothes etc. If I had visibility into the very normal queer people like those in this video, maybe I wouldnโt have wanted to commit suicide multiple times because I was โnot like the othersโ but didnโt know why. Who knows, but I CAN say that if thereโs a 14yr old kid who sees the brave example of these folks, and maybe identifies with them, it very well COULD save a life. THAT is why it still very much matters โค
