How to make easy money in Elite Dangerous (Odyssey Only), the easiest way to become a billionaire. Obviously if you have only been playing for few hours and have only a handful of million then its not for you.

Spire Etiquette: Do not fire upon Orthus until the leader and other team members fire, as random shutdowns ruin it for everyone. Some folk will fire lasers near the Orthus to mark it out for attack, this is not a signal to attack but to prepare for attack. Its best to only hit inbounds until you have enough firepower for outbounds. Do attack scouts at will, Cyclops too, though they will probably fire on you first, but remember that Cyclops fire back and punish you if you're not ready for it. Try not to fly too close to outbound orthus as they too will fire shutdown. Call out targets on discord or in game chat, give a direction from the centre of the spire and mark as inbound (ib) or outbound (ob), ie "360 ib" for north inbound, "230 ob" for southwest outbound, or state landmarks - "4 main spire ob" is an unpopular one. If the spire is plagued by many scouts then focus on them before engaging the next target, or stop hitting so many outbounds. Communicate :)
Shields are useful for higher G planets and in instances with disorganised commanders with lots of random shutdowns, the anaconda is mostly fine shieldless though. You rely more on caustic sinks when shielded though as silent running/burn off will kill your shield anyway, use biweaves with fast charge to help mitigate this.
Guardian weapons: mod-shards and mod-plasmas are best, but they will be destroyed at random from shutdowns, so bring at least 2 AFMUs and only repair to 3-5% each time to save on repair ammo.
**Caustic Sink Module is now unlocked at rescue ship so use a couple of these on your build, engineer their ammo if possible**
**correction you will gain bonds not bounties, these can be doubled with Arisa Lavigny-Duvel or Zachary Hudson power play**

Anaconda is the best ship: most firepower - swap out a hull reinforcement for a 6C biweave (fast charge) for high G spires or hard instances (shutdown), corrosion cargo rack is only for collecting meta alloy & other Thargoid droppings, replace with another AFMU if not needed. Also, swap the AXMCs for a mod-shard gib build (need more heat sinks though). Here’s the build:

Or you could use a Viper Mk4 for ~9.5M, one chap was lasting quite a long time in a Sidewinder. A sidewinder build would cost around 1.65M

28may2024: Combat bonds have been changed and Orthus hunting now makes less money, so while still lucrative you will make more than 60% less. Here are the changes… Cyclops 6,500,000 → 8,000,000 Basilisk 20,000,000 → 24,000,000 Medusa 34,000,000 → 40,000,000 Hydra 50,000,000 → 60,000,000 But this is great for interceptor hunters, every cloud… Orthrus 40,000,000 → 15,000,000

I love your "laid back" style Cmdr and I too really love this game and I played the original Elite for 2 years in 1984 on a BBC Model B. my only problem with guides like this is you basically need to have some experience with combat (especiallyt against thargoids) in the game. i have none, so the only way for me to really make money is wait for a community event for just hauling materials. kinda sucks too cause i would love to help out with the war, knowing that once we destroy the titans, that'll likely be it and the war will be over, so if you miss out, you miss out. beyond that, this is a great guide.

You mention right up front that you could use the Krait Mk. II or the Chieftain, but there is no build listed for the Krait?

o7 commander! Try to hit silent running AND your lasers to overheat quicker. You can even boost too. I know, it doesn´t make any sense because the heat should stay inside the ship and should not overheat the hull to burn this nasty caustic slime but somehow it works.

I’ve been looking into doing this recently, just after finally doing successful runs on the Titan with my corvette. Im still fairly new so no engineering parts, and trying this solo… yeah didn’t work, didn’t die but didn’t kill them, was dealing with those small drones too much. Seems it is only viable with teams, but I’m.. to shy to enter a discord/team up with more experienced cmdr’s, since I’m still new.

I have yet to encounter a Thargoid I'm more focused on getting fully engineered and a cutter, or corvette.

Can I use my Corvette for this ? I havent played for many many years, I have no DLC content build, its pretty much a base game decked out. I'm scared of getting destroyed by thargoids.

Never use anything but light armor. It doesn't scale up in weight as you engineer it.
