Three individuals claiming to have witnessed UFOs testified in a historic hearing on Capitol Hill Wednesday. The witnesses detailed some of the "unidentified anomalous phenomena," or UAP, encounters to the House Oversight Committee. David Kipping, associate professor of astronomy at Columbia, joined CBS News to talk about the hearing.

This is history. Not just to reveal the truth about UAPs but also establish the need for transparency of the government.
  • This is amazing that the media is taking this seriously, what an amazing time to be alive to witness history in the making.

Ok CBS, your reporting on this is honestly just lazy. The three witnesses were two military pilots, one being a Top Gun pilot that had a close up encounter...and a whistleblower that was a high level intelligence officer (used to deliver classified reports to the President) and came forward with information that parts of the military establishment were hiding a crash retrieval program from AARO and from Congress. He stated that under oath and also filed a whistleblower complaint with the U.S. Office of the Intelligence Community Inspector General. There, i did your job for you.

These reporters should have actually watched the hearing and paid attention.

Finally, a major news network covers UAP phenomena, but you nevertheless still speak from the same sort of disbelief that existed in 1947. UAPs have nothing whatsoever to do with fairies and elves. And by the way, David Grush specifically stated that he has never actually seen a UAP.
  • No, they didn’t take it seriously. Instead of reporting what happened, they have some person giving his thoughts and feelings. And that sums up the news has this done today

I knew a US navy veteran who was a senior crewman on a Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye. He told me completely deadpan, flatly stating one late night while playing an online flight simulator together that the crews used to pick up so many anomalous activities in the skies that they were told/trained to ignore it unless instructed otherwise. This was back in 2005 or 6. We had this conversation as we were flying across the pacific toward Wake Island in Microsoft combat flight simulator. He was not one for talking nonsense or ever about bigging himself up, so I did believe him, and anyway I’ve seen some weird stuff too so it was not a big stretch for me to say – wow WTF is actually going on brother? By the way, respects to CBS for covering this important topic
  • UAP stands for Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena. Once and for all.
  • @UFO-Ark
Please can you report this in more detail ?
  • Love that CBS is starting to cover this. I do think that reporters should be a bit more educated on the subject.
  • what was the point in having professor nobody on to speak about a topic he obviously dosent understand? do your viewers a favor next time and bring on people who have studied this topic rather than someone who is clearly in over their head in relation to the ufo topic.

I’m not saying alien.. I’m just saying ufo.. and most of us that have researched are very careful about making assumptions that these are aliens
  • @_Sisyphus
Hey CBS, how do you explain your absence from this historic hearing???????
  • @Steve52344
Old ideas and fears die hard. It's incredible to me, even among those who acknowledge many UFOs as solid objects with unearthly performance, that there is still refusal to accept the most sensible explanation for the phenomena -- that its origin is extraterrestrial.

Also this is gaslighting the public. The whistleblowers are not farmers in a corn field. The gentlemen are top intelligence and military personnel.
  • Elves and fairies? Are you out of your mind!? What a ridiculous statement in explaining the uptick in sightings! This guy is a goof.
