  • Thank you guys so much for watching this video! Tell me...have you ever tried a rice water rinse?
  • @Nilyore
Courtney, I have to say that I am so grateful for you. Your genuine positivity and spirit has been an inspiration on my past year's battle with my natural hair. I, too, have your curl type with fine dense wavy swavy whirly hair, but I have sensitivity to many ingredients, even in CG products. So I have reached more and more to home recipes, and rice water is probably my favorite. It is odd to me too, because for years I thought my hair hated protein, yet it responds so WELL to rice water. Anyways, thanks for sharing. I look forward to the next video!
  • Just did my first rice water rinse and I can’t believe how much of a difference it’s made!! My hair is so much sleeker and defined - had the best cast I’ve had in ages!! Thanks so much for the video!!!
  • @mtcelticharper
I just did my first rice water rinse and wow did it revive my limp waves! So much more definition, bounce and shine! I'm definitely incorporating this into my routine at least monthly!
  • Well, it sounds like I'm gonna have to go to the Dollar Store and get me some bowls! I started the CGM on 7/23 (OMG! Tomorrow is my anniversary!!), and I'm learning a lot! Thanks for helping me on my getting-to-know-my-hair journey. Gracias! :)
  • Just dunk! Your hair! Into the bowl!! 😂 Love your vids ❤️

Me, a (south-east) asian, only now realizing that rice comes in those s mall packets at 8:10: 👁👄

I just found your channel, and I am SO GLAD that I did! My hair is a very similar type to yours, and I have had such a hard time finding people with hair like mine! This is very encouraging. Thanks so much!!

I might finally have to try a rice water rinse. You made it look much easier than I thought it was. And my hair wants protein like a body builder. It's fine, naturally high porosity, AND highlighted. I love doing gelatin treatments, and deep conditioning protein treatments, like the Shea Moisture one, but I've never given this a go. Thanks for the easy directions and demo!
  • Headphones when diffusing?! Never thought of that magic! I try to watch YouTube but it never goes well because I can't hear. HEADPHONES!! DUH!!
  • I’ve tried brown and white rice and brown rice is what helps mine the most. I thought it might have been just my imagination. Thank for explains all this! All the other videos I’ve watched don’t go into the differences.
  • @SueRosalie
The protein in rice water can't penetrate the hair (you need hydrolyzed protein in commercial products for that) but it's giving you a temporary effect of coating your hair with a glaze and acting as an emollient which is why it feels nice. So if it's a protein treatment you're after you need to use something else.

Wow. I'm just starting the curly girl method. One of the products I used pre-cg had hydrolyzed wheat protien and it made my go from limp waves to curls again. This was way better. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for this thorough video/instructions/recommendations! Just tried this technique for rice water rinse the other day and I really liked it! This was my first time trying it I feel like my hair loved it and feels stronger. I used what I had on hand for shampoo and conditioner which was Sheamoisture Jamaican black castor oil shampoo and the hair masque from the same line. Will definitely being doing another rice H2O rinse this week since I had about half leftover and so I stuck it in the fridge. I put just 5 drops lavender essential oil in it for fun even tho the rice water smell didn’t bother me :)
  • @ruthpickens8101
I too love rice water rinse. My hair LOVES it. Never thought to leave it on longer. I’ve done 10 min. Will try 30. Thanks
  • Giiirl. Your hair looks so GORGEOUS!! As my "new to CG" edu-ma-cation, I've watched a LOT of your videos and learned a ton, so thank you for that. (Btw... never, EVER stop being silly and goofy, bc it is awesome.) THIS is prob the best I've seen your hair look (so far). Its SO shiny and bouncy. Needless to say, I'm buying me some organic rice tomorrow!! 😁 TY, Courtney!!
  • @alisonboone8519
Thanks...just did my first rice water rinse and my hair really liked it...i think more definition...but definitely less halo frizz! Will def be keeping this in my routine
  • @aczu12345
This is the video I have been looking for. I have fine hair and I can get 2c/3a curls but every so often it drops to waves. All the videos say, "hydrate hydrate hydrate, be careful with protein." I rarely need conditioner. I'm going to see if adding this monthly helps. Thanks!

My momma used to wash herself, her hair, the dishes, clothes, all with rice water as a kid growing up in small village in Malaysia. This was the early 1960s. No money for soap, rice water was the thing!
