Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said he hopes the US will “obliterate” Iran if US leaders are threatened. Trump made the remarks sharing a clip of Israeli PM Netanyahu mentioning alleged Iranian plots against Trump in his address to the US Congress. The US National Security Council said it had been “tracking Iranian threats against former Trump administration officials for years”. Ties between US and Iran have long been strained and reached a breaking point as Tehran sought revenge for the assassination of a top general. Meanwhile, Donald Trump's campaign refused a debate with Kamala Harris, until the Democrats formally decide on their nominee.
