The Complete Guide to Riding North Conway NH's Hurricane Zone

Published 2022-05-08
Well, here it is. One of my most asked questions I've gotten in the past few years is how to ride North Conway, in particular, the hurricane zone aka the Ride NoCo zone. As you may or may not know there are alot of riding opportunities in the Mount Washington Valley and doing a video on all the areas would be monumental. I wanted to focus on the gravity zone which is my focus anyway. With the additions over the past few years of infrastructure trails, starting at Cranmore is actually the preferred start point, as was the intention. Watch the video, let me know what you think, and if you have any questions leave them down in the comments as always. Great video. Answers all my questions.

Great Summary Jonathan! I haven’t hit that lower Kandagnar yet, it looks a bit above my comfort zone. The upper part was rowdy enough. There are some chunky trails in my new neighborhood, hit me up if you need a tour of Littleton/Bethlehem/Franconia/Easton.

As someone who's been lost at Hurricane, this is very handy!
  • Great video! I don't know how you're able to talk and ride so well!
  • @E-ONTHEMTB
Rad video bro! Always at some awesome Spots!
  • @vinniemoro257
Super helpful guide! Please show us the other areas too!

the stream gap is gnarly. Cant tell in this video but its got to be a 25-30 foot gap and sniper landing. great riding

It’s normal to be nervous about camping out in the woods alone at first, you’re not alone in that. And you’re right, you can do it just like so many nervous campers before you did :P
  • Thanks for putting in the bit about earning your turns. Shuttling is whack.
  • @JJ_MTB_15
Good video. Been once and I parked at the watertower and took the road climb up, pretty brutal I was only able to get one downhill run in
  • @erichansen18
Is this recent footage? Just wondering if the trails are ready to ride. Thanks again man I always appreciate your videos.
  • @geraldsmith2962
Hope you do a video on each zone! I plan on riding up there a lot this summer and would like to know what’s out there.
  • @Cletus-wp8ob
What do you think is the most jump filled trail that is not a double black in hurricane zone?
  • @EzRichardson
Jonathan! I love the content man! Can't wait to get out there and ride once I've got a bike 😅 I wanted to ask, how can I contact you?? I've got some questions about trail building I'd love to ask you! Cheers!
  • Hey I know it’s a different trail than in this video but is little river worth going to spend a couple hours there?
  • @neaaat5545
How difficult is the easiest trail off the top of Burke mountain. What is it comparable to at highland.
  • So, is the road climb still viable or are they trying to get folks off the road?
  • @neaaat5545
Could you also just climb up the hurricane mountain road and than go to black cap trail. Would that be something viable?
