  • Sickening!!! To treat a veteran's senior spouse like that without asking about their situation is unspeakable!!! Where's the simple human kindness today??

This story really breaks my heart. I lost my mother to hyperthermia when she was 72. Our elderly needs to be protected. That hospital should never had that woman going to sit in a car in the heat. That’s dangerous at any age but even more for the elderly and young children. Rest In Peace to this sweet woman ❤️
  • This guy is wrong at the VA hospital. The person at the door instead of turning her away should call their supervisor or management to ask for exception for her to at least wait in the lobby of the hospital so she won’t have to wait in the car. No, excuse, she didn’t have to die. Sooo heartbreaking ❤️‍🩹!!!!

This is so sad and shows how heartless some people in the healthcare industry can be. Condolences to the family. 🙏

This is disgusting. Pure cruelty - you don't need someone to tell you to help another person, much less do you job at a hospital! It was malicious and reckless. That's why they refuse to release the findings of the investigation. Vile people
  • Mrs. Lear did not deserve to die like that. This should not have happened. More than 50 yrs she was by her husband's side only to be treated like a non-factor who was in the way. While their actions may not have been outright malicious their attitudes were atrocious & indifferent. That's not how you treat the wife of U.S. Veteran and certainly not an elderly woman. The VA needs to recognize & respect the roles wives play in not just their husband's careers but their after-care beyond active duty. Without their wives many would be far worse off so please VA administration & medical staff RESPECT the wives of your veterans. I'm so tired of hearing about trifling deaths connected to inadequate, trifling & often indifferent maltreatment of our veterans at the hands of the VA hospital. Many of their policies do more harm than good to the veteran and by extension, their wives. My sincerest condolences to Mr. Lear on his loss. May God be his strength throughout.

Spouses support the soldier, sometimes throughout their entire career, but we don't get the respect or consideration for all we've ALSO sacrificed. I am so sorry for your loss. Her loss is not in vain, but unfortunately, it's through your loss some changes have come. I pray for your strength as you journey through losing your wife and life partner. I too was turned away and many others during the pandemic and waited in the car in Texas heat. I will be more attentive to cars in VA parking lots from now on. I will make demands and draw attention to anything that can ve done differently while we wait. May you experience peace for this leg of your journey without her. 🙏🏽

This spring, 2022, I went to the ER with my husband in AZ. I was told to wait in the car, because of the risk of covid. It was a hot day. Fortunately, I did not succumb to the conditions of that day. However, this practice was still going on at that time. Utterlly dispicable to treat the public in this way. She's so lovely. May she RIP.

Oh what a horribly sad situation. I'm so sorry to read this and my prayers go out to this fine gentleman and his family. A lifetime of love for sure, I hope you can heal this hurt with her rememberance and love.

I am so sorry for your loss. May GOD give you comfort!
  • Am l hearing this right?she wasn't allowed in hospital when she was alive but after she wasn't alive she could come into the hospital?
  • @reggiesuave1018
The goal was to protect all veterans but have the man wife “which the man is a veteran” who is being seen, wife which is elderly to get out the hospital…. This is pitiful!! God bless this man and family…
  • This is so sad and could've easily been prevented had the new policy been implemented prior especially considering two major factors it was his elderly WIFE, and the outside temperature a waiting area should've been offered to her even if it meant waiting in their chapel or cafeteria period. I understand with Covid trying to be safe but, this policy change is definitely too late. My heart goes out to the husband and family for their loss.
