Anyone who does not own a copy of Joni Mitchell's, "Blue," needs to get it and listen to it over and over. It is a life changing collection of songs. O'Donovan and her band, I'm With Her, are great interpreters of the music on that album.

"A Case of You" is one of my very favorite Joni Mitchell songs from my favorite Joni Mitchell album, the sublime and glorious "Blue." I saw Aoife (pronounced "Ee-fah") O'Donovan perform at the Fresh Grass Festival a few years ago, and she and her band were fantastic. And it's really cool to hear Chris Thile play the classically Joni guitar chords on his mandolin. Gorgeous!!

I first heard of Aoife in her band Crooked Still. They’re definitely worth checking out if you’re into Bluegrass. They have a cellist, so it’s kind of a bass-heavy string ensemble. Also, her name is pronounced “Ee-Fuh”.

Appreciate all you that you share with us Michael. Three guitarists have made a huge change for the better in my playing. You, Tom Bukovac and Guthrie Trapp. Probably learned more in the past year from the three of you, than in my previous 16 years of playing. All of your recommendations are pure gold

Aoife is a wonderful singer, guitarist, and songwriter. It's worth checking out her solo work and bands Crooked Still and I'm With Her (supergroup of Aoife, Sarah Jaroz and Sara Watkins). However, my favorite performance that she ,or Chris for that matter, is the song "Here and Heaven" from the Goat Rodeo Sessions. Aoife is the guest, but the rest of the band is Chris Thile, Edgar Meyer, Stuart Duncan, and Yo-Yo Ma. The "Goat Rodeo Sessions" is one of my favorite albums of all time, I can't recommend it highly enough. The video is on Yo-Yo's page. I miss the "Live From Here" radio show, so many wonderful moments from there.

Appreciate you man. Long time listener, first time caller here. One of Aoifes groups is I’m With Her. Their cover of “Hannah Hunt” for Live with Chris Theile is an absolutely killer. Thanks for all you do man, been giving me some sanity for a half decade now and I appreciate you!

By far, my favorite guitar of yours! The tuners are sweet, reminding me of the original 50's Paul.

A beautiful and respectful version of this classic song. I've treasured a few versions on video thru the years, including a 1974 live dulcimer performance by Joni, a 1983 guitar version by Prince, and Noah Reid's 2021 tribute to Catherine O'Hara (with her on split screen).

Huge fan of Aoife- saw her in concert last year. Check out her trio I’m With Her

NICE!!! She has a great cover of Hannah Hunt on Live From Here with her band Her.
  • @MrTonicAmps
She reminds quite a bit of Alison Krauss. Beautiful voice!!
  • pretty sure I posted their cover of Joni's Coyote to your discord last year! I found her via Sara Watkins and Sarah Jarosz and the group the 3 ladies had called "I'm With Her". Glad you found the awesomeness of Aoife's voice.

If somebody wants to sing that well, it helps to listen to and sing along with Joni Mitchell singing the original for forty years. 'A Case of You' is one of the best songs ever written and originally appeared on "Blue", one of the best LPs of all time. Oh yeah, also devote your life to music and perform with other highly accomplished musicians for decades. The arrangement, singing, and playing that this video features is superb, and befitting of the composition. Palmisano's commentary is interesting and highlights some of the nuances that make musicians of the caliber of O'Donovan and Thile soar to heights that few ever reach. I am thankful that I've been able to enjoy their music for as long as they have been around. Michael's shared insights make it even better.

Definitely check out her doing Lakes of Pontchartrain on Acoustic Guitar Magazine's channel. She's a great player also.
  • @isathebell
I'm not a guitar player. I just love coming to watch your channel, cause I like the way you enjoy music, and how you pay attention to every single detail 🥰 I hope you react to "Over it" by Tori Amos. Greetings!

Her vocals remind me very much of Alison Krauss in all the best ways. Excellent talent here. Thanks for doing this one
