A day in life of a Japanese Elementary School with only 8 students and 11 teachers. This is a typical day for a Japanese family with 3 kids all in Japanese grade school. We start from early in the morning when they wake up and follow them through their elementary school morning routine, their daily school studies, school lunch meal, after school activities and finally coming home and having dinner with their family. The kids attend Kojin Shogakko, a typical Japanese public school but the main difference is that there are only 8 students at the school between grades 1-6. There are many interesting facets about the Japanes students daily life at school including their Japanese school lunchtime “Kyushoku” which isn’t just a break to fill stomachs, but it’s considered a form of food education. By consuming nutritious meals, students learn about healthy eating habits which helps carry over into their home life. What’s even better, is that cost on average 224 yen about $1.50 per meal, which means that even students coming from families with a tight budget are guaranteed at least 1 healthy meal each and every day. I hope you enjoy the typical day of these Japanese students.

Mad respect to that principal/soccer coach. Really seems like a solid guy

As sad as it is to see the effects of depopulation in rural Japan, I can't help but think about the amount of love, patience and attention these students are afforded by their teachers. I think they're going to have phenomenal bases to move on in their educational careers because of the time they were afforded with their instructors.
  • Why is the principal the best part of this episode? He’s so caring and sweet. I hope he gets his wish for more students. He really cares so much about creating great students and well rounded people
  • @Jusdepommerose
The principal seems so funny and kind ! Infact all the teachers look friendly. These kids are very lucky to learn from them!

By far, this is the untypical but coolest a day of a life video. I hope this video would boost the number of the students in this school.
  • @limitedmobro
Although it's kinda sad to see the realities of depopulation in rural Japan, having only 8 students do have its own upsides. I'm sure those children are going to have long-lasting memories from their school days
  • @angelineting7193
I still can't believe this whole school is functioning to this level just for 8 children. And LOL at the dog staring at you at the end!
  • @AliKhan-gc1bv
I hope and pray this school never shuts down and the number of students keeps increasing. Such beautiful and wonderful people running this school!!!
  • @geraldsnyder6482
The Japanese culture is so focused on respect even saying thank you after safely crossing the street.
  • @kylehawkins7959
I loved the confused look the dog kept giving Paolo from the couch at the end when he was finishing up. 🤨
  • @lillymurray8408
These kids are actually getting much better education than the latter! They basically have one on one classes. The principal is a really good guy also. You can tell he really loves what he does and those kids love him as well.
  • @therosewebbb
My Japanese husband doesn’t speak English, but he watched this video. He said he was thankful for subtitles in Japanese and they were “native-level”, which surprised him lol.
  • I wish the U.S. had this school program. Kids need physical activity all throughout the day, help clean the school and participate in helping each other. Great video!❤
  • 8 kids in a school!!!! One-on-one with most of them, what a dream!! The teachers were energetic and very encouraging for all the students. The boys were hamming it up for the camera but still took their studies seriously. Maybe you should move to the country for Wolfie's education.

I'm an elementary school ALT (English teacher) in rural Japan. I work for 9 schools throughout the year. The students from small schools like this are always far more academically advanced than their peers. Not to mention they have better attitudes toward school. Yes, population decline is an alarming and serious problem. But in the case of the school system, I wish the government would notice that small schools are beneficial to students. Instead of worrying about closing small schools and combining them into large ones, the focus should be on finding funding to support these kinds of learning environments.
  • @chrisd7803
I wish I could hug those teachers. They care so much and take their job seriously. Thinking back at my time at school some teachers just hated kids.
  • @vitanursantono
28:22 hahaha the kid just straight up playfully slapped the principal/coach! You can tell that he cherishes his students a lot.
  • @Dude-etiquette
8 kids and three from one family. What a great story. Thank you sharing
  • @gigispeachroses
as an elementary school teacher myself, this is my fave video of yours so far!! i love getting to know what a school this small is like! where I'm from, those 8 students would get transfered out of here in a second! their district allowing this to happen is amazing and i love to see these kids and the staff thriving!!! they all look so happy :") thank you for this beautiful episode, Paolo! <3
