Moving to Utah is a big decision and involves a lot of moving parts and this transaction has happened very quickly and Ryan Smith (owner of the Utah Jazz) has made the investment to purchase the team and with that comes a new brand and a new name!

This is really cool! The NHL is allowing the Coyotes name and colors/logo to remain in Arizona. Utah Yetis?? Love that name...not only Utah, but Wyoming and Idaho will support this team....

The team could possibly be called the Salt Lake City Stags, going around the theme for elk in the mountains in Utah

Apparently on Tuesday 5 trademarks were filed; Utah HC, Utah Hockey Club, Utah Blizzard, Utah Venom, and Utah Fury. Personally Utah Elks or Utah Yeti would’ve been better.

I think it would be significantly cheaper to renovate the Delta Center to have better sightlines for hockey than it would to build an entitely new arena. If they have to close the Delta Center for an extended period of time, they Jazz could temporarily play at the Huntsman Center at the University of Utah, and the new NHL team could play at the Maverik Center. As for a possible team name, I really like the Utah Blizzard, especially since the name has two z's like the Jazz.

I think they’re either gonna renovate the Delta Center to fit NHL standards, or like you said play there for a few years and then move to the new arena next door :)
