A decade ago Turia Pitt was running an ultramarathon when a grassfire caused burns to 65% of her body. Doctors weren’t sure she’d survive, but she encapsulates what it means to have ‘grit’.

She joins Kurt Fearnley for a run by the beach, and a conversation about determination and her life ten years after the “catastrophic bushfire” that changed her life.

Turia is an amazing survivor.. But her partner Micheal deserves great recognition for helping her through this trauma.. Most young men wouldn't have been able to deal with all hard work it took to get her to this point. They are an incredibly strong couple. Bless you both...

I just seen the 60 minutes Australia episode and now seeing this she’s come a long way. She’s the bravest and the most determined woman ever. She looks beautiful. Micheal is so caring and such a support, he makes all us boys proud. So happy for this family. Cheers to life!

Michael is truly one of a kind - standing by Turia in her journey - that is ''pure love.'' Blessings to this beautiful family*

Turia is an amazing human being. My self esteem was crushed when I lost four teeth due to severe Fluxocilin (oral antibiotic) allergy, to the extent that I developed the habit of covering my mouth when laughing. I cannot imagine going through what this woman has been through. It took YEARS to save up the money to get my teeth fixed, and I just was NOT myself until then. I remember having to hold back tears on public transport once when a handsome man complemented my appearance and shyly asked me for my phone number because I felt SO UGLY with those few missing teeth 😢 Turia is an inspiration, and her partner is a shinning example of what a "good man" SHOULD be. God bless them both.

✱OMG, 10 years since the first interview. Clearly, when somebody tried to manage your expectations, you kick their butt, wow! You have 2 kids and still running, nothing slows you down! You are more than a survivor, my gawd, you are beating the hell out of living your best life! You look great and you have a wicked good attitude. 👍👍👍

She is a beautiful soul. She inspires me so much, I first watched her early on after the accident during her early recovery. About a year later I was going thru my own personal struggle with depression and addiction. During one of my youtube binge watching days I came across her TED talk. Something she said or the way she said it actually stopped me in my tracks. I was going to take my own life. I didn't. Thank you Lady you rock. Xoxo

I struggle with opening a pasta sauce jar and have to ask my son to do it 🤦🏻‍♀️, I am completely able bodied but couldn't do a tenth of what this amazing lady does! ❤ Her story is so inspiring and should make people stop complaining about insignificant things.

I became permanently disabled when I suffered a catastrophic pelvic injury during the emergency delivery of our 2nd Daughter. My Husband has also been by my side every step of the way. He's an amazing man, Husband and Father and couldn't possibly take better care of us. Having a wonderful partner by your side, to stick with you through every high and low you go through is CRUCIAL to recovery. Without him, I'm not sure where I would be right now. Thank GOD for the good ones! Turia is amazing, and so is her Husband. They are a true inspiration.
  • This man doing the interview has a great out look on life. He is a true inspiration himself!
  • I am blown away by this woman and her partner. Unbelievable survival.

What a brave woman and such an inspiration to other burn victims and those who have suffered facial acid attacks.

I just finished Turia's 60 Minutes Australia story then this appeared, & in disbelief WOW what a change in 3 years! She is absolutely GLOWING now - so pretty! What an inspiration she is to all, & I see more greatness in her future w/that sparky, indomitable spirit of hers! To think I'd never heard of her until tonight. Sending all my best from Florida! 💪😊
