A major disruption in Microsoft Corp.'s cloud services caused widespread flight cancellations and delays across the world, including India, on Friday. The outage forced several airlines, including IndiGo, Akasa Airlines and SpiceJet, to ground planes and disrupting flight operations.

Delhi Airport posted on X saying some services at the airport were temporarily impacted due the global IT outage. "We are closely working with all our stakeholders to minimise the inconvenience to our flyers," the airport said. Bengaluru Airport said IndiGo, Akasa, Spicejet in T1, Air India Express in T2 among those impacted.

There are many cloud deployments they are regional specific because of clients asking or country got such laws. Cloud providers too also have geographical redundancy architecture followed. Any software upgrades are strictly controlled and rolled out. In most of these companies Indians are majority workforce. All checks are in place. Not sure what went wrong with this Microsoft incident, need to check. Coming to our own homegrown alternatives, its a good topic for debate, but reality is far away. We are the economy which is still basic and people are not ready to spend on good to have stuffs.
