I tell young sk8ers all the time " tempature and humidity has an affect the the adhesive that holds the plys together, especially any sudden changes in both". I'm glad u touched on that point.

I am riding same board for 8+ months 😆

razortail is pretty much the bane of my existence. it gets really bad if you're into manual tricks
  • @BIGPROWLER

I always give away my used boards because a board that is done to me is still pretty new for a younger kid but what i do is i take them all sand them down smooth tryn reshape the board abit hit it with alittle gloss spray paint and just turn it into a decent blank board just feels better handing a kid the board after ive put some love and energy back into to the boards get a second chance and more life from them everyone is happy in the end
  • I skate the vx decks, I’ve never had mine loose pop so I skate them till i finally decide to or somehow break it, which I haven’t achiachieved yet

As a 28 year old getting back into it you are the best no bs advice channel on YouTube, bless bro 🙏

This great to know Norman!! We all know you skate hard so using a deck for a couple weeks is definitely needed to be changed out. I like how you explained about the life cycle of your decks and for the blessing others with a deck whenever someone can’t afford it. Same here dude!!

Usually swap out to a fresh deck after hitting the 3rd ply. I remember back in the days skating our decks until they snapped or there was nothing left of the tail and chipped up, Then hit the local skate shop and pay 5 bucks for a used deck!! Those used decks were a lifesaver for us when 50-60 for a new deck wasn’t happening!

I’ve been skating my current board for about 5 months and although it’s in relatively good shape and I try to be careful with making razor tails but I definitely feel the sogginess aspect specially in the middle lately my kick flips been feeling difficult and now I’m attributing to the pop aspect being gone

Thanks so much for this video. This is a question that I've been wrestling with since I started skating again at 48 y.o. I' also a bigger guy, weighing in at 230, so it is definitely a consideration when it comes to the life of my board.
  • @pedrominnaar1126
Shot! Great video. Skating switch more often also prolong board and shoes.
  • @thickenstein
You're a very good presenter and articulator and an absolute shredder. I remember what it was like using second hand boards and skating them until the nose and tail were literally non-existent lol.
  • That nollie noseslide 270 shuv out was clean! I landed my first 270 shuv out last week. I also increased my board size to an 8.25.

I’ll go to when I see the 3rd ply on the razor tail. Or when I’m over the board and just wanna setup a new deck jus they released a sick graphic. But once the pressure cracks start to show I switch it out… but I like to have at least 2 or 3 decks setup. I used to have setup on deck 8.0 8.125 8.25 but now I’m more into jus two 8.125 and 8.25. I jus started getting into 8.25 decks trying it out and I actually kinda like it. I was used to skating 7.75 then went too an 8 and now it’s 8.125 or 8.25. I like 8.25 at the park and 8.125 for street
  • @gh8590
Peace & Gratitude to you 🙏🏽 I’ve learned a lot from your videos , I put 5 year old on an 8.25 and he instantly was 100% more comfortable on his board . Wouldn’t of known without you , I skated a 7.75 until I was 19 haha
  • Hey man, I just want to let you know this is the first time I've come across your channel but I'll definitely be checking out your other videos. This video is very educational and you are very articulate in your explanations. I also love that you put in a recording of setting up the board during your talking (I love watching set up videos for some reason so that was a treat lol). Not to mention the clips of your skating are sick and I definitely want to see more. I clicked on this video expecting to learn one thing and ended up learning a ton. Thanks for making this!
