Mounds of sea shells on Panama City Beach

Over the past several weeks, mounds of sea shells have popped up along Panama City Beach as a result of the Beach Renourishment Project. This short video takes a look at one of the piles, which is off limits to the public. We heard people could take shells from piles in other areas, then heard that the piles were closed off to the public because of bacteria. We only know what has been circulating in Panama City Beach Facebook groups! The shells in this video will be distributed along Panama City Beach access roads, according to a worker on site. Other piles have been distributed along the pathways in Camp Helen State Park. Whatever the case, it is a rare and interesting site to see such a huge pile of shells!
