One day my daughter walked past me and I heard Cinema Show playing on her Iphone. I said to her do you know what song you’re playing? She said of course dad, it’s Genesis Cinema Show. You played this that day you took me kayaking, and I really like it. I felt as if I’d given her wisdom. It’s a feeling that I simply can’t explain , but it warmed my heart.

By some distance, this is the finest live album ever recorded.
  • No computers. No auto-tune. No click tracks. Just master musicians giving it all to the audience.
  • Although Chester was better drummer for Genesis, This song is made for Bill Bruford. This is the best version of Cinema Show ever played
  • When Phil joins Bill Bruford on the drums it is pure magic. Two of the most amazing and eloquent drummers of the genre, like one entity on two drum sets. The memory of it gives me chills to this day.

I agree with all of you Phil's voice is great, Hackett's guitar effects like none other, the rest of the band kick ass. Never again will this be repeated. Thank goodness it was recorded.

This was Genesis at their very pinnacle. Amazing.

My favorite Genesis album ever since I first heard it in 1977. I've definitely played it more than any other album I've ever owned.
  • Hackett making his guitar sound like birds chirping during the quiet section ~3:20......damn creative.

Cinema Show is Amazing here. This was The reason I bought Seconds Out.

Tony Banks a true "artist" and genius on the keyboards...he paints a picture and creates a vision in your soul like no other

I like more this version than Gabriel's, Phil Collins has a more expressive and plastic voice, perfect for this song
  • I agree this is an excellent recording of an excellent song. This is one of my favorites. I remember going to a music store and buying the double LP when I was a teenager. I'm surprised there are not any comments about Tony Banks. He wrote this piece and used every sound available to him during the keyboard solo. To me, that is the part that shone most brightly. Thank you Tony.

Greatest Cimema show I have ever heard. Collins vocals are PERFECT (and his drumming)- The whole bands rocks!
  • There will be no other version like this. Bruford was just the right drummer. Collins at his peak, as well as Hackett.

I find it a bit amusing when Zeppelin fans say no band come close to Zeppelin. Stones fans and Floyd fans are much the same. I get it because music is about taste. To my ear though, no other band came close to creating such masterpieces than Genies in the Hackett years. This music will live on much longer than the others. It really is timeless. Those were some talented dudes!
  • Never gets old. Total magic. What a privilege to be alive at the same time as such glorious masterful musicians.
