In this DIY video, we will be creating a beautiful crossbody jean purse, with suede fringe, suede whip stitching, patches, belt strap, pocket, a little vintage lace and more. Everything is thrifted, which makes it affordable, one-of-a-kind, and earth friendly. I do my very best to take you step by step, with easy to understand directions, so that even a beginner sewist can achieve this look with confidence and clear understanding. If you love thrifting, like I do, the hunt for these treasures is just as fun as making the bag.
This is a wonderful and comfy everyday bag, a great way to add a little spice to your wardrobe. This bag, with its boho hippie vibe is also a fabulous gift idea. Maybe you create to sell, like I did for many many years, denim bags are sought after and great sellers!
Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing that you have tendinitis issues. I am 72yo retired Registered nurse, recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I so loved sewing. I grew up in domestic violence with all its profound, long term effects. I eventually found sewing to be the best therapy for me. I was unable to sew around time of RA diagnosis. Your videos have been a great motivation to start back sewing. I avoid big projects, sewing for public. It motivates me to adjust to RA by taking better care of myself, listening to body for when to rest, using alternative medicines to fight RA ie herbs, heat pad, exercises, massage therapy and topical herbal ointments. In other words, I control it so it doesn't control me. Besides sewing is a great exercise for my hands!.

Love this bag. I just made the flannel shirt with the cute doll on the back. I wore it and got so many complements. I also decorated a pair of jeans with flowers cut from fabrics. I love them! I am trying to get ready to move and making lots of ornaments etc . For a Christmas bazaar next month, it's really been hectic but I decided no matter what I am going to make 1 something just for me each week from your tutorials. Thank you so much Traci. Absolutely love all your wonderful creations. Btw, I'm 73 and I'm not too old for these types of clothing as some might think 😂😁💖🫶

For the fringe, you don't have to cut individual fringes. You can cut almost to the end and stop short about 1\2 inch and that will keep the fringe lined up. Then stick the uncut part into the seam before you sew it up.

You make it seem so easy. If I wasn't paralyzed with anxiety, I would s try this. I love watching you do it!

Thank you, Traci. Bag is gorgeous 😍! I can't even begin to tell you how much you've influenced me with your videos. I mention you almost daily when my friends ask me what I'm creating right now. You have me sitting at my sewing machine every single night. I love every second of it. Again, thank you 🙏💖

You are Sooo Talented!! I look forward to all your new creations! You’ve inspired me to buy a used machine and sew again after 18 years!! I’ve made a few of your clever purses for friends, family and myself! I’ve added a sewing room to my house and am enjoying myself every night thanks to YOU!!🎉

Thank you for sharing your talents. When I feel sad or just down, I look on YouTube hoping you have a video and changes my day around. Blessings
  • I’am so in love with your creations and style. I often watch you videos where you create these beautiful bags and tell myself that I’m going to try my hand at it but I know mine will look nothing like yours. I do not own a sewing machine and so I would have to do it all by hand, not sure if I could do that. Anyway, thank you for your time and generosity in sharing your knowledge with us. Have a great day.

I love working with denim. I’ve made farmgirl style denim aprons, denim placemats and denim wine gift bags, and crossbody bags like this. I love your idea of fringes , belt strap, and patches. 😍💕💕💕

I always ♥️ watching your tutorials. You're VERY detailed at giving instructions!! Such an adorable bag TIP: I found a shower suction handle and attached it to my long ruler for ease of moving it. It works like a charm.

This was exactly the video I needed today. I have been struggling on how to decorate a denim bag I am making, thank you. I also enjoy the little comments you add, they quite often give me a chuckle. Nice when we can laugh at ourselves, then others laugh with us, not at us. ❤

I love how easy you make it look ! I have osteoarthritis in my hands and had surgery on my left thumb, so I am sewing with one hand at the moment! 😂 Gotta keep on keeping on ❤😊
