I was an Army recruiter in the mid 80s. We all loved this song.

Best ad the Army ever ran. It was effective and it spoke to the difficulty and sacrifice, but also to the pride of serving. I was too young to join when this ad ran but it inspired me.

I too remember this recruiting commercial. In the early 80's when I joined, some young soldiers questioned their reason(s) for becoming soldiers. I will admit there were times that I hated being in uniform. Those moments passed and, I was a proud, motivated soldier again. Throughout the years I served, until I retired, I wished the Army would have re-used this recruiting ad, just as it is.

I remembered this commercial and hummed it for years. Back in the 1990's, I tried to find it on the internet and couldn't. I contacted the Army Band at Ft Meyer to see if they could help. No idea but the guy I was talking to on the phone had written the song!!! He offered to email me a copy and got it. Played it this evening from my harddrive and decided to search youtube again...it's finally on here! Thanks. Very inspirational.

I am not an American but was a boy in the early 1980s and affected by those times. As I listen to this I see flags, space shuttles, Grenada and Reagan all over again. Typical patriotic 1980s and lovely.

This was played when I arrived at Fort Knox for basic training. I heard it once and never forgot it.

Beautiful song, and beautiful video. 1995-2015. I loved every second of the US Army.
-
I remember this commercial as a kid I used to cry every time it came on it was always one of the motivations for me to go in the military

This song still brings tears. I became a 13 Bravo. Now 3 of my 5 children are soldiers.
-
Best commercial the Army ever did. Wish it would be revived.

I still tear up when I hear this. It's even better when presented live. My Army service left a permanent positive mark on my life. My son is now 3rd generation. Most of us put in only 10 to 12 years and then went into civilian life but several including my son are going all the way..

In AIT right now, proud that I enlisted. HOOAH!

Remember watching this on AFN when I was stationed at Neureut Kaserne in Germany made me feel really proud to be a part of the US Army in the 80s

1989 graduate of Basic Training at Ft. Jackson. I was 18 then. My Service has given me everything I have today. I thank the US Army and this great Country for everything I have today.

Saw this once on T.V. when I was a kid. Second time I saw it was in a class room session during basic training at Ft.Jackson the summer of 89. This is the first time I've seen it since then. I have no regrets.

It wasn't always easy, it wasn't always fair... Motivating.

Basic Training 1988 Fort Benning 11C! Played in reception. Still moves me to tears. Mother's family goes back to the Mayflower. 23 ancestors fought in the Revolution. Retired, 1987-2012.
