We need to ask that question, does colour theory actually make your graphic designs better, or is it utterly useless? As a graphic designer, we need to take colour seriously and try to apply it to our designs.

If you're a logo designer, a Ui or Ux designer, or just a general graphic designer, colour and colour theory should be something you need to take seriously and try to apply to your work. However, colour theory is a bit more advanced than people tend to think. It isn't so black and white (pun unintended).
Hopefully by the end of todays Satori Graphics video, you will better understand colour theory and design theory, and can then apply it to your graphics and workflow.

If you found todays video about colour theory making your designs better enjoyable or useful, let me know in the comments section and drop a like on your way out. Subscribe to stay updated to all of my uploads and until next time, design your future today, peace ✌️

  • My father, Sven Singstad, who was a painter/illustrator, had a blue-yellow anomaly. He developed a very distinctive colour palette, making his work very recognisable.

There's lots of talk about how red grabs out attention because it incites thoughts of passion and/or violence, and is often used as a cancel button, or to signify something to avoid. But I think it's also important to remember that lots of fruits signal their ripeness by turning red. A leading theory for why primates evolved to see red when most mammals can't is that it helped us find edible fruits more easily. I thought of this when you used McDonald's as an example. Red is often appealing to us because red means ripe.

As a UI/UX student, my color palette is all over the place. This video helped a lot. Definitely looking forward to watch and learn from all of your related videos. Thanks. 😅

I am glad you mentioned how different cultures take different colors differently. That is something I see glanced over so often in videos and I appreciate you mentioning it.

Ohhhh, I needed to learn more about colour stuff! Lately I can't seem to figure out good ways to put colours together, let alone their saturation and brightness! I'm always doing high contrast because of my low vision...but it doesn't always look nice. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge on it!!
  • Been watching your content here and there for years, and I love how you’re injecting more of yourself into the videos. There’s something about voiceover screencap videos that have a way of just feeling so sterile.
  • This was a really interesting watch, personally I love the challenge of playing with contrasting colors purple and Orange are fun to play with. The saturation in each can be lovely too. Thank you for this video, it’s making me think more about how color combos can make a brand!
  • Not a graphic designer but I'm always mindful and picky in colors in highlighting cells in Excel. I always those pastel colors cos yea, they are calming to eyes instead of just the default bright yellow.

The Color Theory is also Personality dependent a part from age factor...The Magazine cover has a chic ,understated sophistication with the white and the cool grey title ... I liked the dark red lipstick and the kohl smudged ages which give the image bold accents...

Oh, love, love this! Thank you very much! A loyal fan of your work.
  • Great video as always Tom! Really informative and love the two totally different designs 😍
  • @DiaaOnsa
Congratulations for 1M 🎉👏 I've been following you around the 100K and I am proud to witness your progress.
  • @faithrekt7069
Your attention to detail is always so informative! Thank you for always being so thorough ♥
  • As a video editor trying to move more into motion graphics and graphic design, I found this extremely insightful! There are so many color theory vids out there that might list how colors make us feel, but don't explain how that feeling might affect someone's interpretation (or consumption) of the final work, let alone provide specific applications. Great stuff!
  • Satori Graphics, I just wanted to say thank you for this fantastic color theory video! It's informative, engaging, and I learned a lot. Keep up the great work!🎆
  • This is really great and even more great to see this in practice! Another valuable one 🙌🏻♥️

Your content is top notch!! You give examples and really explain it well. Rare in the graphic design social media field
