Philodendron should be mentioned. My cat once ate a leaf and was in distress right away. I called the poison control center, and they advised me to run some warm water by syringe over the cat's tongue. She said the plant had little thorny bits, and they were stuck in his tongue. Like magic! They even called the next day to see if he was ok. Don't hesitate.

Always a bowl of clean water. Helpful video. About not getting enough water: I feed my cat his dry food in the morning. And wet food in the afternoon. Since he seems addicted to dry food, I add 1/8 cup of dry food to the wet and mix in 2 tablespoons of warm water for a soft mixture and he eats it all up.

Great advice. My cats are indoor, and have a mix of the highest quality dry food (urinary and hairball control. though they do not have health issues) This food is available at a pet department store, or a vet. I boil fresh, boneless chicken breasts for them, and I include a little extra water with their wet food. They have 5 water bowls. My cats have a large, spacious outdoor enclosure (round 70 sqm) where they can access the house whenever they want. I make time to have "playtime" with them, though they like to play amongst themselves as well. I have 5 cats who are all brothers and sisters. I rescued them all, and their mother (which is a long story) They are all snipped chipped, and registered for life ( People are required to register their cats in Perth, Western Australia)
  • Well I’m doing rather well as a cat mom.my cat eats a raw diet, and a high quality organic food. She eats better then I do. I’ve even go without so she has enough.
  • I bought a cat water fountain from Amazon. The cats did not go near it for a week and then it quit. Another great product from China. Anyway, it showed me that my 4 rescue cats prefer standing water over moving water.

I got more than one water bowl, but my cat hates the water fountain I got him, he has never used it.

Ear mites are a constant problem people confuse for fleas: but can lead to a deaf kitty.

I bought a waterfall waterbowl and it has done wonders. My cat loves it when I get him fresh water and he can just drink from the small streams, especially in the summer. I keep it at a cool place and he loves his water, he will lie down next to it lol.

Surely a cleaner house, including cleaner floors, are more likely to prevent parasites, no? 🤷‍♂

When my cat is scared of noises he does not know, I speak to him, trying to comfort him.
  • Problem I have . My cats hate wet food . Gave them wet food . Just walked off after they sniffed it

This is a great list. I never feed or water my pets out of plastic containers. Plastic is unsanitary. I also make sure my babies always have fresh, clean bowls always. Eating out the same bowls over and over without washing ! Would a human being want to eat out of dishes that are not washed between meals. They would stink. Nobody needs plants in their homes. Essential oils give me a raging headache so I can imagine what it does to pets. Cats are very clean and they like clean litter boxes, clean food bowls, fresh water, etc. It's just common sense.

my last 3 cats all lived over 20 years. their diet included dry and canned food, cheese puffs, pizza, lasinga, spaghetti, bbq/fried/baked chicken, beef/pork/chicken cooked on BBQ, Natural vanilla ice-cream, milk, and just about anything I may be eating. cat has a stainless steel water fountain with filters I had one cat would grab some food then drop it in her water dish then eat the soaked food out of the dish

Hardly a life hack nowerdays given the ubiquitous nature of them. I remember when they had to adhocked from aquarium equipment. Who gives bones to cats??? Keep the bones for making a lovely broth for them when they are under the weather. Thrill of the chase can be gotten with the now easily available red dot machines. Some can even be programmed to go through sequences at set times. For food ceramic only, and ones designed to take the whiskers into account. Water bowls can be plastic, metal or ceramic as long as they can deal with boiling water for the cleaning time. Oh ad stainless steel bowls do get microscratches, as does ceramic by the way if you use a metal fork to mash the wet food. However boiling still fixes that one. Number 5 is true, I learned that one when I got worms from my cats, who got it from eggs carried in on my boots. Also flea eggs can last a long time in an empty property before hatching. This means they can be carried in on second hand furniture too.
