paying 50k a year for a rental? madness, greed has destroyed this country.. young people need to really consider their options much better life if you head overseas
  • The Rental Crisis a National Shame. The problem is that all the Labor and Liberal MPS including the MP own multiple Rental Properties and are benefitting from this Crisis.
  • I was shocked the condition of those flats is appalling & yet the rents are extremely high.
  • Just trying to get tenants out to knock building down and redevelope.

Greedy landlord, money over human decency once again.
  • So happy people are standing up for themselves. It looks like the block really needs updating.I wonder if they want to sell the block to developers.

This guy is obviously trying to price people out so he can renovate it and get ridiculous amount of rent.
  • I would like to wish all the tenants the best of luck. I hope you all get a great outcome
  • @southurnstar
I'd be demanding building repairs for that big of a price hike.
  • @Polyphemus.
Do landlords not realise that sooner or later they're going to run out of peasants to exploit? Then what are they going to do?

Spot on, and how polite he still is about it! I would be swearing my head off. My Mum owns property in Germany, and she says, it is the exact opposite there. The renters have all the rights the Landlords little. Therefore I can put myself in landlord shoes and can see the other side, ...but, what is going on in Australia at the moment, is just outrages!!😠 As he says, due to the market economy, a little rise is to be expected, but this capitalistic behaviour needs to stop, and renters need way more in the way of rights and protection!!! I mean, look at the landlord, to me he does not look like he is suffering financially! Renters need more rights, full stop!!!!!!

These housing and rental prices in Australia are pure THEFT
  • It’s just frightful these poor tenants are living in these conditions for the rents they are already paying let alone a rent increase!!! Good for you guys for standing up I hope you all get some justice and these money grabbing landlords are shamed for being so darn greedy!!!
  • Albo is the owner of multiple rental properties, that is why his Government has so many Policies designed to push up the price of rent.
  • In South Australia a landlord can increase the rent 10 % every 6 months but they they will only increase $10- $20 a year. Don’t know why it’s not capped in other states. That’s highway robbery.

Wow, the panel were basically gaslighting this dude. 'Are you not worried that if you create a little too much trouble what the fallout may be?' and 'Do u think if there'd been steady increases would it have gotten to this level anyway or do you think this is a bit much?' Rent Increases 'are just a normal part of renting.'
