Today, I’m honored to welcome the one and only Michelle Obama to On Purpose. Michelle, who needs no introduction, sits down with me to reflect on her eight years in the White House, the challenges one faces in the public eye, and how her personal relationships have changed since becoming First Lady.

We discuss a variety of topics, from the addicting nature of cell phones to weathering the storms faced during long-term relationships. Michelle, having had such a unique lived experience thus far, has such important advice to offer, and this conversation truly showcases that fact.

You know, when I first saw them as a couple, I thought she got lucky with Obama. After hearing her speak, I realized he’s the one who lucked out.
  • When my brother was shot at Fort Hood, we got to meet the president and Michelle Obama. She was one of the most genuine people I have ever met in my life. When she gave me a hug, you can feel that it was not fake and if there was love behind that hug. She looked me straight in the eye, and you could tell that she cared. It’s very few people that I have met in my life that are like her. She’s one of a kind for sure.
