Ride NYC- Atlantic City via NJT services. Highlights. Speed, trumpets, sick horns, casinos. 9/1/22

My father used to tell me of the two competing rail line from Philly to AC. They both advertised less than an hour between the cities. Crossing south Jersey they were known to go over 100mph regularly. There apparently was one pair of trains per day which raced eastbound. This was in the 1920s, the age of steam. What a sight that must have been! By the way, also commuter train service into Ocean City, swinging south at Winslow Junction I believe. One can trace the Blue Comet route driving through the Pine Barrens with the help of an old map, still finding places where the right of way is still quite visible.

There used to be a direct service known as the ACES, express between NYC and AC. NYC-Newark-AC. But it stopped operation in 2011

Thank you, living in Newark I now know how to get to Atlantic City without taking a bus or my car !! Back in the 1990’s I use to take Amtrack to Boston !

Although I like trains a lot, the one thing that always draws me to your channel and your hour long videos is your commentary. You have a natural gift for storytelling. I really can’t stop appreciating the railroad history and personal stories (I really liked the one about your fathers drama with a yankee player) and I hope you continue spreading your knowledge and experiences to the world. I don’t know many people who can make me listen to anything, but you’re one of them.

Your rail videos are just awesome. Especially NJ Transit routes, Riverline, in South Jersey to Philadelphia. I live near Newark Penn Station. As well as LIRR,. I myself enjoy railfanning. You are indeed the best on the rails. Best wishes.

I really enjoy riding NJ transit trains . My number 1 favorite train in this video is the Atlantic City Line from Philadelphia to Atlantic City. I will be more than happy to ride this train any day of the week. I wish I could go ride it. I am one of the biggest fans of NJ transit. I highly recommend this train for any one who has not been on it yet. The people who ride this train are very nice and amazing and this train has some of the greatest conductors in the world. So please go ride NJ transit from Philadelphia to Atlantic City. I hope to see you there.

What a fine video. I appreciate your knowledge! I grew up in Newark and especially enjoyed the trip through Penn Station. Passing under the old CNJ tracks, you mentioned the Market Street station. I'm old enough to remember the CNJ terminal on Broad Street, from which it operated the old Newark and New York Railroad.

Thanks for doing this, really enjoyed the ride! You're right, it's not the Blue Comet, but at least you can still get down there by train. I wish they could connect all those Jersey shore towns again by rail. Some of the abandoned ROW still exists all the way down to Cape May. I know the old Wildwood Oak Ave train station is now a NJT bus terminal. Took that bus back to Manhattan many times!

Can't believe all the videos I've watched that you've done and this is the only one of the River line? Really a cool little trip My girlfriend grew up in Bristol Croydon area I've seen that bridge from the northeast corridor she couldn't remember what it was but then when you saw it along the River line she remembered it and the Tacony and of course the bridge that goes in to Philadelphia on PATCO she used to ride that train going to work from haddonfield worked at the PFSF building when it was offices

great video. I grew up in Philadelphia and remeber the Penn/Reading trains when I was a child. We spent many summers down rhere before the casinos. It was a teriffic resort.
