He's right about sport techniques. However, the best fighters in the world in "sport" martial arts are better suited with knowing how to defend themselves better than anyone else. Why? Because if they are incorporating sparring in their training, that will be a difference maker. It gives you a mental and physical advantage over someone who spends most or all of their time showing techniques against guys who are offering no resistance. Anything can look good on camera if your opponent is cooperating. But cooperating opponents give you a false sense of security in the real world. If you really want to know how to fight, go to a respected MMA gym.
