I quit 1000+ days myself. It is the best choice I've ever made. There isn't a single thing I miss.
  • @pstubeing
Your life will change in ways you never imagined. It’s been 8 years and I’m still realizing things. Try it!
  • Well done for this video. I am 1 year sober in 4 days !! I’ve struggled for years stopping and starting but I’ve done it. Well done to you and everyone else 🎉❤
  • @timoneill6931
Don’t be envious of your drinking friends. It’s possible they’re not being completely honest with you. Thank you for your story.
  • @ozboman
I’ve been alcohol free for 52 years and my life has been abundantly better. Keep it up, kiddo
  • @kberanoyd
This is literally my story also. I quit 4.5 years ago and never looked back. It’s not a good look, but also it was so normal to binge drink in the 2000s and we didn’t have social media, so many of us never learned healthy relationships. Festivals sober are amazing! You’ll know when you’re ready. You have to relearn having fun in a way…
  • The older I get, the less I enjoy alcohol. It absolutely wrecks me for days if I even have more than a glass of wine with dinner. Also, I’m coming from the perspective of living in the states so it may be a cultural difference, but I would argue the excessive drinking, blacking out and getting physically sick so often would qualify as having a “problem” with alcohol. But it might just be a cultural difference between our countries as to what really qualifies as alcoholism. The binge drinking, party girl style alcoholism isn’t the typical look of depressive all day every day alcoholics but it is considered alcoholism here nonetheless. It sounds like you are much better off without it so kudos for recognizing a need to quit and thank you for making this video! Surely it will be relatable to so many people.
  • 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌I’m on day 30 of one year no beer and absolutely understand everything you have said in this video Laura. I am 61 and it has taken me 48 years to realise this 🥂hears to a alcohol free future

I'm 18 months free from that poison, I would drink for the wrong reasons and trying to drown out my problems. Microdosing has helped me the most on moving away from it as well as self reflection. Finding and listening to Jordan Peterson was a big help too. I try to spread the word to others around me about what it does to the body but nothing really came of it. I also can't stand being around drunk people either. Congratulations to everyone thats made the hard decision to leave it behind.

Great video Laura and well done for 1000 days! I’ve been a heavy drinker all my life and also suffer from depression. I’m only 27 days AF but already feel better mentally. If I’m having a wobble, I play it forward in my head and imagine how I would feel the next day. This alone is enough to stop me running to the nearest offy! Hoping I can keep this up and be alcohol free forever😊❤

I stopped drinking 15 years ago. Best thing I ever quit.
  • Alcohol became the laser focus of my life. When to get it, did I have enough in the fridge, what about my stash area? All consuming in every aspect. Finally hit bottom and got sober. It’s been 38 years, best gift I’ve ever received, but for the grace of God. I thoroughly enjoy your little corner of uTube, well done 🎉🌷🦋
  • I went off alcohol 7 years ago and noticed a few things. Fewer, if any, extremes in my mood- especially negative emotions. Better sleep, clearer thinking, instantly picking up on co-worker's signs on drinking, less sick days from work, less sick in general, a loss of party friends. I feared not being able to find a relationship thinking that my not drinking would be seen negatively. I found that i dated more after i quit and met quality women. More importantly i found the woman i would marry. She had been cutting down on drinking before we met so it worked out hand in glove. I lot of what we fear isn't true. Been 7 years and i don't miss it. I don't miss hangovers, brainfog, and ideas that seemed good at the time. Being alcohol free has allowed me to be present in the lives of others- and that's priceless. LauraTry- thanks for sharing.

5.5 years sober and it is the best thing I’ve ever done. Agree with everything you’ve said and so happy you’ve found this for yourself. Huge respect!

This video epitomises why your channel is so good, Laura: your honesty. I'm 40 and wasted about 12 years of my life drinking several times each and every week. Now I only drink 3 or 4 times per year and love the freedom and energy sobriety brings with it. Keep the videos coming, you're a breath of fresh air.
  • @psychopsycho3
Great video Laura. I too have been on an alcohol break for 18 months. I am finding less and less reasons to ever drink alcohol again, even when I do have the fleeting thought that I'd like the sensation of 'relief', and am tempted by that well-worn (false) belief that alcohol is the only way to have it. Since I have quit it has massively improved my sleep, made even the worst of anxious feelings a mere trifle, improved not only my motivation, but my initiation too. Now when I want to get sh*t done, I can more easily just get on and start. My mental processing speed has gone through the roof. Consequently, both my occupational performance and lifestyle have improved. All of these changes were gradual from the outset, but really accelerated after around 9 months for me. Good luck on your onward journey!
  • Good on ya LT! I learned early on in life that alcohol wasn’t for me. Never liked the taste nor did I like the loss of control. I just tell people I’m happy and love my life…I don’t need to alter my sense of reality with alcohol. That shuts them up and they go away……I don’t like to hang out with drinkers anyway. I’d rather be outside hiking, biking, kayaking, etc. No matter what others tell you, alcohol doesn’t mix with that kind of fun. It’s like “they” pressure you to drink so you lower yourself down to their level. It makes them feel validated. Well, I don’t care! It’s my life and I’ve done pretty well without alcohol!!! 😊❤😊
  • I’ve just passed the 2000 days mark. Much like you I gave up for my mental & physical health, I used to get awful anxiety after drinking. Plus seeing my elevated heart rate on my watch even after just a couple of drinks the previous night, it was pretty shocking to see the effect it was having. Great video, thanks.
  • @mikespies786
I’m almost there! Today is day 922- zero regrets and feeling better every day!
  • I find the "oh, you can have just one, surely?" comments the most interesting. I reply, "I can have as many as I want. I just don't want any." I like to make the distinction between permission and choice. People seem to think it's a permission thing - surely you're "allowed" to have one/two/whatever. I like to point out that, actually, it's nothing to do with that. It's a choice I've made. They find that quite difficult to comprehend I find.
