At the end of World War 2, a German General was taken towards a pole for his execution inside of Belgrade. He was someone who was responsible for the slaughter of thousands during the war, but Johann Fortner was an experienced military man. He rose throughout the Wehrmacht but at the end of the war was placed in reserve, but he was still condemned as a war criminal and was executed for his crimes.
