Recently, I hosted an in-person draft and I started off with a decent white/green mounts deck until I was passed a Bonny Paul and Bruce Tarl in 2 different packs. At this point, I thought, "what would Nicolai do?". I decided that picking them both up was the play and from then on, I heavily prioritized fixing. The funniest thing about the Tarl/Paul combo is that Tarl gives Beau double strike because Beau is an ox. Thank you for teaching the ways of the draft :D.

Watched this right after watching your video on better draft tips. Really saw your application of being flexible in your draft after I saw you pivot away from red into black. I didnt even realize you pivot so late but the strong blue card base really made it work. Learning a lot from your channel, your videos really gave me the confidence to play Limited and its now one of my fave formats. thank you for the content Nicolai

I felt the same way about heartless pillage being underrated, then I checked top player blue/black top cards on 17 lands filtering out the first 2 weeks and it was one of the highest win rate cards in that archetype. Nimble Brigand is the reverse it isn’t as good data wise as people seem to think (still a solid pickup but not like amazing)

Desertion is such a commander card lmao. Might be going in some of my commander decks. On a totally separate note, it's easy to look at cards like emergent haunting and think oh my... 3 mana for a surveil 1. That ability is so bad. Or thran spider, 7 mana look at the top four cards and put an artifact card into your hand. Oh my... That ability is so bad it might as well not even be printed on the card. When would I ever use this. But cards like these are just so good in these limited formats and are usually underrated/overperformers, as long as the card gets enough value as is without the ability, because it's a mana sink. Cards like these prevent flooding. Sure the rate for the ability is atrocious, but at least you have something to do with your mana besides wasting it. Like, that silly looking surveil ability literally won you the game in game one. Just like you said about the duel land spell cards in the new set. If you draw this late, the spell isn't great, but at least it's better than drawing a land. Edit: Yet again, just another thing you've taught me/opened my eyes to about Magic. Thanks for making such great content. I always really enjoy watching you draft.
