"I created the sound of madness, wrote the book on pain, somehow I'm still here to explain" - fucking awesome line

What age do you consider some old lady? I'm a 64yr young grandmother who introduced her grandsons to Shinedow 🎉😊

I remember when I used to listen the fuck out of this song when I was a kid. Remembered about it like 5 minutes ago and checked it out again to see if it was as good as I remembered. Glad to know it is.
  • my eleven year old grandson turned me on to shinedown, I have been missing one of the greatest band in my lifetime I'm 57 brent is absofuckinlutly one of the best singers I have heard in this lifetime
  • Shinedown you have gotten me through some of the roughest times in my life. Your music saved me. Love this band so much 🤟🤘🖤

I always say Shinedown is my "go-to" band. I wish this band had been around 40 years ago, I would have been living a better life, I believe. But then sometimes I think that the "road of shame" brought me to Shinedown. Therapy in music. Truth never felt so good. Peace

Who's still jamming to this song in 2021 🖐

The sound of madness, as Brent will explain in his interviews, could really just be the steamy gurgle of the coffee pot, making love to the snooze button of your alarm clock rousting you out of your sleepy stupor as you pull yourself together for getting to work.....the rhythmic thrum of the shower pelting on your back, the ambulance sirens whizzing by your window.....or the soft, quiet place you go to gather your thoughts... it's more of a humble metaphor that takes on relative perspective as it applies to the listeners world in general, from their internal monologue and their personal unique situation, it's memory ghosts between the beats, it's different to every member of the audience. This piece can hit every nuance on the philosophical spectrum. It's potent medicine for the brain. I love this song!

Shinedown saved me, long story short it was my first time listening to them and my mom called in the middle of this song to find out my uncle shot himself. it crushed me, but i just pressed play and listened to the rest of this song and it helped me so much. From seeing them in concert and having the lead singer jump down from the stage into the pit and stand right in front of me and give a speech on pain and hurt, this band has helped me through some dark hours. Love these guys

2024 and this banger still hits hard 💥💥
  • I maybe 56 yrs old but I still love a good hard rock song and rocking band. Was just recommended this band for me and I have been listening to them the last 3 days straight. Yeah they will be on my top 5 bands.
  • The evolution of Brent is spectacular!I can't give enough thanks for all the Smith and Meyer's songs. But I will always come back to this song. His looks changed but not the beautiful music he and all other artist have given the universe 🙂

Some people may not Know this, but the Music video is actually based on true events, one man made it his mission to bring home kidnapped children. Shinedown is amazing

Love this song. The music can’t never be loud enough. You can NOT not headband to this song and sing your heart out. Personally for me, this song tells my story. So hard to not sing it and get emotional. Music is so healing.
  • The more I listen to Shinedown the more I love this band. EVERY song has meaning and depth

Sound of Madness Yeah, I get it, you're an outcast Always under attack Always comin' in last Bringin' up the past No one owes you anything I think you need a shotgun blast A kick in the ass So paranoid Watch your back! Oh my, here we go Another loose cannon gone bipolar Slipped down, couldn't get much lower Quicksand's got no sense of humor I'm still laughin' like hell You think that by cryin' to me Lookin' so sorry, that I'm gonna believe You've been affected by a social disease? Well then, take your medicine I created the sound of madness Wrote the book on pain Somehow, I'm still here to explain That the darkest hour never comes in the night You can sleep with a gun But when you gonna wake up and fight For yourself? I'm so sick of this tombstone mentality If there's an afterlife, then it'll set you free But I'm not gonna part the seas You're a self-fulfilling prophecy You think that by cryin' to me Lookin' so sorry, that I'm gonna believe You've been affected by a social disease? Well then, take your medicine I created the sound of madness Wrote the book on pain Somehow, I'm still here to explain That the darkest hour never comes in the night You can sleep with a gun But when you gonna wake up and fight For yourself? I created the sound of madness Wrote the book on pain Somehow, I'm still here to explain That the darkest hour never comes in the night You can sleep with a gun But when you gonna wake up? When you gonna wake up and fight? I created the sound of madness Wrote the book on pain Somehow, I'm still here to explain That the darkest hour never comes in the night You can sleep with a gun But when you gonna wake up and fight For yourself? But when you gonna wake up and fight (for yourself?) But when you gonna wake up and fight (for yourself?) But when you gonna wake up and fight For yourself?
