Robert Downey Jr. in Sherlock Holmes (shirtless in the fighting ring my GOD) coming back heathy from where he was couldn’t have been easy, he deserved at least an honorable mention.

When he got the role in the 1978 Superman movie, Christopher Reeve was informed that his physique was not broad enough for the Man of Steel. He was then told not to worry, as they could sew in foam that looked like muscles into the costume. Well, Chris Reeve did not take too kindly to that, so he worked out. He enlisted the aid of David Prowse (yes, Darth Vader himself) to get himself bulked up in time for filming. Needless to say, the results speak for themselves.
