I hate the modern trend of "just make like 50% of the combiner a static partsforming piece" so much

This dude isn't a cmbiner he's just 6 dudes that attach to a larger 7th dude.

I get the point behind the frame of the combiner given the size, but it really annoys me to see companies just not even bother trying to make a combiner team combine. With Menasor, it makes sense since the shell at least serves a purpose, but something like this is just. Stupid.

Funny how Newage needed that giant core to make the combined mode while the Magic Square version has minimal partsforming.

Now get the Magic square, poses better and doesn't have an egregious combiner torso to partsform all the bots into

Obviously, the biggest problem about applying this pseudo-combination concept on Combiners like Devastator is, unlike Menasor who could get away with it by having Motormaster and Menasor's skeleton body separated into truck and trailer, Devastator didn't have that luxury because there's no way to hide Devastator's skeleton body. Sure, they can make it transform into something else that is more useful than a partsforming junk, but even if they did, its main purpose was just for the skeleton body.

Long haul's been doing so much heavy lifting in cartoon that new-age decided to give him an easy time and let him just sit there, which he's more than earned it.

I like combiners but not if they use a shell to combine, it's not a combiner it's a shellbiner

"Wasn't exactly thrilled with the giant torso that does nothing" Exactly why I hate Legacy Menasor. Sure, technically it does something, IE: 'turns into a trailer', but other than that it doesn't really do anything. The Stunticons don't 'combine' with it, they just hang off it like accessories. Don't get me wrong, it looks awesome with them all there, and horrible without them, but what happened to combiners actually combining? And yes, I know, that's how he looked in the G1 cartoon so "cartoon accuracy!" but I miss the days when they actually combined into something. Anyway, mini-rant over. Nice vid!

So many people talk about how they hate Partsforming, but then they never say they like Puzzler better than any Transformers Combiner! I would love to see a Modern Puzzler, even if from a Third Party!

That thing is WAY too expensive for what it does. My LG Devastator with retooled arms and added weapons was $200 when I got it and stands 18 inches tall and doesn't need an entire body to combine. We're going to be getting an SS86 Devastator and I can't imagine that one not being better and cheaper than this.

To anyone who has trouble figuring out what they should do with "the shell".. In one of the G1 Transformers Comics, Devastator was gonna be built as it's own robot, due to the constructicons not being able to combine anymore. i tend to kind of display him in the way that the "scaffolding" aka unfinished robot looked. EDIT: it was in "The Transformers UK: Desert Island Risks!"
