I can't believe how no one hasn't filed a lawsuit over all this
  • Another thing to be careful of: some companies with Android software will turn permissions back on during an automatic update. Companies love to come out with a new privacy policy update saying "by continuing to use service you agree to..." and turning everything back on at update time. Edit: thanks for the 1k likes

Recently saw a video about why some still use Windows XP. While I don't use it anymore the reason I still think dearly of it is because I felt like I OWNED my pc. Not long ago went looking for some files I had in my windows xp and booted that system. There were only 10 processes running and I knew exactly what each of those were. It was a system I knew the ins and outs, configured to my liking and felt in control of it. Now, a brand new windows computer will have about 200 processes running and even more services, before you even install anything, and a lot of those are things I don't want running on my pc. New windows feel like buying a new car and the first thing you say when you sit on it "I HATE THIS" , then work on configuring, removing all stuff I don't care and don't want, just so I hate it a little less and windows reinstalling a lot of that crap on the next update. If I own a pc I want to be the one installing new software on it, because I have an use for it, I dont want someone else installing whatever software they want, but this is the experience windows gives you, then they collect and sell your data profiting from you just using "your" computer and on top of that make you pay for it.
  • Honestly, I switched to Linux when Windows 11 introduced its unnecessary system requirements and the privacy issues that Windows 10 and 11 introduced.

Boy what energy and time you need to invest for you privacy. I hope gaming will get more support on Linux.

Great info! :) I would also suggest creating a restore point before making changes. Or at least suggesting that for friends when you recommend using this.
  • A good follow up later is to see if a future windows update enables all these features again like they usually do. Microdot just loves to enable those registry keys and group police’s again without telling you. Not to mention change the keys so the program won’t work and you’ll have to wait for a new disable tool.

Love your channel and videos thanks for making them. Wish you could do some common questions people are unsure about. Like can you plug in an HDD that has viruses on it to get some files off of it. Or a complex question. Like can you plug in a device that has virus built onto a chip in side it. Or how to check internet traffic from your pc to see what is being contacted outside your pc using a program Fiddler or other similar software.
  • This is incredible. I know people have been saying windows is snoopy for a long time but I didn't really appreciate what that meant until I saw this video.

Even though I'm tempted I don't know if I'm gonna do it, back then I've used different anti-telemetry tools with Windows 10, only to find out months later that parts of the OS were broken because of those tools
  • @darkphase7799
Would love to see you explore the differences between the 2 programs to see which has better coverage for privacy
  • @smallqwaro
I'd get Simplewall too. It's a firewall that also har all the telemetry and tracking blocked by default, you can configure it how you want, it's very simple to use.
  • @Pewafamath
Great stuff as always. reassuring to see the tools being the ones I already use always a nice sanity check.
  • @FarnhamJ07
Thanks for the well made, straightforward video; you're a lifesaver! I jumped ship back when Windows 10 autoinstalled, been pretty lost with what to do when my mama calls up worried about this kinda stuff. If only I could get her to try out Debian!
  • @daddyattitude
So I am sitting here in front of my PC, looking at all the red that O&O Shutup recommends to turn green. I never realized it would be SO BAD. Thank you for the video.
  • @gregritferdjr
This may also boost your pc speeds aswell since it’s doing much less background processing
  • @Diarmuhnd
Thank you @The PC Security Channel for all your help.

It's crazy how Microsoft learned from the people that attacked their software......I have to do all this to use a computer knowing someone is spying on me.....

I will say this. Log collection is very useful if you know where and what to look at and how to utilize the info and the search/filters. If you use your system as a server or NAS of sorts and have ever realized your system is offline. The logs can be very helpful in figuring out why that happened. If a power failure, update, or system crash occurred. The logs will usually state such things along with pertinent info as to what caused the issue. It may not solve your problems, but it can definitely help make it easier and quicker to do so. Especially if you want to avoid any foolish errands!
