    Thank you for raising awareness for this rare disease. Some things you said are correct. Other things mentioned not quite. I have had dercums disease for 17 years. 1st tumour appeared age 21. I was not overweight in fact, I was very slim and tall. Most cases occur sporadically. The tumours can be lipomas or angiolipomas. Exercise and diet has NO impact on DD. In fact, more tumours usually develop as a result of exercising. Thus, pain too increases. DD is a chronic (long-standing condition) and progressive (meaning it gets worse) It is also disabling and disfiguring. I have personally spoken to many other DD sufferers around the world of various ages young to old. Including some DD people who have bravely went public to raise awareness. It is an awful disease and most doctors have never heard of it.
