Chris Ship gives Shelagh Fogarty an update on Princess Anne following her hospitalisation after an incident with a horse.

Anne, 73, was walking on her Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire when she was kicked by the horse, and suffered concussion and minor injuries to her head.

The injuries were consistent with being hit by a horse's head or legs.

The Princess Royal was treated on the estate before being taken to hospital.

Her husband Sir Tim Laurence, her daughter Zara Tindall and son Mr Peter Phillips were on the estate at the time. Sir Tim went with Anne to hospital.

Princess Ann is the backbone of the royal family 😢hope she recovers quickly ❤🇦🇺
  • I am praying for Princess Anne and all of the Royal family. They have suffered greatly within the last couple of years and deserve a little peace and comfort.
  • Princess Anne is very horse savy. What ever happened, it would have been totally accidental, unprovoked, and just random and totally unexpected ..... poor woman, I hope she heals quickly with no long term consequences. ❤️🐾❤️🙏🏻🕯🙏🏻❤️🐾❤️

Get well soon Princess Anne ! Having had horses almost my entire life , I know how you feel.
  • You don't need to be leaning down to get kicked in the head by a horse

I do hope she's going to be ok. She's a wonderful woman.
  • This is very disturbing. Princess Anne is so healthy! A head injury can seem small but becomes life threatening very quickly!

    Best wishes for princess Anne…
  • For Ms Fogarty to suggest the cancellation of a trip to Canada is a sign of something particularly severe is absolute nonsense. Any 73-year old who has suffered concussion and then to be expected to fly long-haul on business, only days later, would be absolute folly.

I hope she recovers without complication or permanent brain injury.
  • It probably happened so fast even Ann may be not sure what happened. Prayers for her recovery.
  • Flying days after a concussion is tantamount to sucide. The change in air pressure can have very serious effects upon a brain injury. After a brain tumour removal I had to travel to my brother's house in Northern Ireland by Rail and ferry because the doctor warned me against Any air travel even after the 6 week watch and care period I was at my brother's house for. I needed to have a brain scan 3 months after the operation to check the healing process and confirm if I was fit to fly.

Very best wishes Princess Royal 💐💐💐💐

Even if the head injury is not very serious, it is advisable not to fly. The changes in pressure could exacerbate any residual weakness, blood clots etc. She will probably be fine.
  • Why don't you wait until you know what happened why do you need to guess at it. Then report the facts. And only the facts and leave the trivia out.
