What is with bootlegs with death images being so brutal

Imagine a kid, about 7 or 8, who hears about this really great game called "Super Mario World." The kid already has a Genesis, and doesn't know he has to get a SNES to play it, so he just says to his parents "can I have this game called Super Mario World?" And so, for Christmas, he gets Super Mario World 64. And he's so excited, and will be cool with his friends. Then, he puts it in the Genisis and it's just this piece of shit. Many years later, he goes to a pawn shop or something, and finds a copy of the real Super Mario World and buys it because of childhood memories. And then he plays the game, and sees how much better it is. And at that very moment, he realized his childhood was a lie, made by a bootlegger for a few quick bucks.
