  • Black Knight: (Gains a level) "Oh come on, seriously? A point of magic gain? What is it with the magic gains in this run?" Ike: "You too, huh?"

"I'm sorry Ranulf I'm only just learning what racism is"
  • @MicaiahBaron
Every fan of this game: "Oh yeah, it's this episode."

Small note: Ward increases Resistance by 7, not 5. It actually does so in most games - except Awakening, which is the odd duck out in the series

As a point of interest, when Greil enters the building for a short time in this chapter, he actually has stats and weapons that you normally never get to see. If you're using an Action Replay or something, you can "unlock" that version of him! I always liked the cutscenes in this game, they're quite well done considering their age.

Obligatory "Wah" in celebration for our friend who joins at 7:00. I'd make a more obvious Waluigi joke, but A. I don't know if that meme ever escaped FEH, and B. I don't remember how many years ago that joke started, but I'm pretty sure it was before 3H was released, so I don't know how well known it would be even if it did escape
  • Ike's base Strength is 5, and a 50% growth means he'll only gain one point every two levels on average. So the 5 strength in 11 levels he's gotten is more or less exactly what you'd expect, essentially.
  • Fucking incredibly done ending Tom, you clever little so and so. Damn that was good.

I never understood why Greil didn't use Ragnell in that cutscene fight against the Black Knight. He should understand the weapon triangle, y'know?
  • I'm PRETTY sure that in Path of Radiance, if you grant someone a skill via a scroll, you will NOT be able to reuse that. That is to say that any skill you remove (including personal skills they start with) are just permanently gone. Be careful to who you give skill scrolls to and try to make sure that whoever gets one is going to keep and use it for the rest of the game.

Mia! My favorite minor FE character. She performed awesomely for me in both Tellius games. As for Miracle, you have the trigger rate and condition correct (Lck% on what would be fatal damage), but the effect is slightly stronger in Tellius; you take half your current HP in damage instead of being reduced to 1.

For someone who felt in love with this game back in College. Well done with the Ending scene Tom 👏 I feel like a teen again seeing it for the first time

I have to add support for Mia who in my playthroughs never failed to make the team... even the time I purposely tried to exclude her. She's not a glass cannon though; Between Vantage and her dodge, she's a monster with a comeback for everything. But instead of saying "No, you", Mia says "No, ME." Back when the game was released, Mia was more taken for granted "Sure, there's Mia but X is better... if you work on them. And get lucky."

13:00-13:13 Regarding Tom's comment about raising only 10-14 units, a thing to keep in mind is that the game has a few units that are required to be used. Besides Ike, there is one other unit that becomes necessary to be deployed the later half of the game, as well as another unit that you have to use for better results. That in mind, the final mission is a final battle that has a unit cap of 14, so you have time to choose your units.

So, Path of Radiance was actually one of the first story driven games we owned when I was growing up. . .this scene (and the following chapter in terms of mood) hit pretty hard when you're younger and don't know a thing about tropes yet.
  • I first experienced this game's story through JesuOtaku streaming it on Justin TV, back before the site rebranded to Twitch, and because of those streams, I will forever read Ranulf's dialogue with a Sean Connery impression. (Other noteworthy character matches from that playthrough: Ike was Luffy, Boyd was a ninja turtle, and Soren started off with an Alan Rickman/Professor Snape impression, but after chat pointed out that her attempt to do that voice was closer to Super Kami Guru from DBZA, she leaned in to that instead.)

Damn that was like a sword to the heart. See what did there.😮

In my latest playthrough of this game my oscar had really bad stat drops starting out but once he got to higher levels he got some really good bumps, it also helped that due to previous playthroughs I unlocked the bands which increase certain stat Growths which helped immensely with the night band. Getting bad luck on oscar really sucks considering that he is one of the best units in the game.
