I'm a 57 year old man and I grew up in Hyde Park in Chicago and Muhammad had a home in the area and my father would take me to see him jog on the lake front in the morning i was 4 and Muhammad pasted by and gave me a high five. I will always remember that.

When my husband was dying from AIDS, I wrote Muhammad Ali a letter (my husband was a golden glove boxer) telling him how much he loved Ali and he wrote back. My husband couldn't believe it, I didn't tell him in case he didn't respond, it was very personal and I was so impressed that he took the time to answer.

He took a few cups of love. He took one tablespoon of patience, One teaspoon of generosity, One pint of kindness. He took one quart of laughter, One pinch of concern. And then, he mixed willingness with happiness. He added lots of faith, And he stirred it up well. Then he spread it over a span of a lifetime, And he served it to each and every deserving person he met. RIP MUHAMMAD ALI...

I'd like for them to say: He took a few cups of love, He look one table spoon of patience, One teaspoon of generosity, One pint of kindness, He took one quart of laughter, One pinch of concern, And then he mixed willingness with happiness, He added lots of faith and stirred it up well, then he spread it over a span of a lifetime, And he served it to each and every deserving person he met - The Greatest (1974)

He wasn’t promoting segregation, he was simply saying don’t expect people to assimilate to a culture or way of life that’s not theirs.
