In this video, I go into detail on the differences between CS:GO and Valorant, as well as the positives and negatives of both games. Remember, all points mentioned in the video are based on my own experience, so despite trying to stay unbiased on every topic, you might still disagree with some things and that's fully understandable. Nevertheless, I hope you will enjoy this comparison video essay.

I should also mention that I peaked Global Elite back in 2017 when I played CS:GO regularly, so currently I am no where near that level since I only just came back to the game. Thought i'd make it clear so you don't assume that the footage used in the video is in my "prime" time.

If you enjoyed this video, considering dropping a like, it helps a lot with the algorithm!

Join my New Discord Server: discord.gg/yKKmjzSz Also, I'm aware that I didn't include Faceit in the Rank System category. However, I wanted to compare both games from the base that the game offers, without any external sites/programs. I hope that will clear some things up

Riot Terms of service: No racism, No bullying, No sexism. Be nice to each other. Valve Terms of service: Don't do war crimes (optional)

IF YOU DON'T HEAR THE N WORD IN A SHOOTER GAME THEN IT NOT A SHOOTER GAME

i love that trupent crowd work clip. the fact he brought that is legendary.. but even more.. the fact they LET HIM IN WITH IT is even more legendary.
  • Probably the first somewhat unbiased video I've seen on this topic. One point you forgot to mention was the presence of the community workshop and large number of community made game modes. A large number of players solely play surf, kz, bhopping maps, hide-n-seek, deathrun, 1v1 arena, prop-hunt, zombie escape, etc. Its a huge reason why a lot of players prefer CS over Valorant.

I play both Valorant and CS GO regularly and honestly I've rarely seen Valorant players care about how good or bad cs go is whereas in CS i'll find a Valo hater every day

Bro sometimes I only play CS because I want to have fun talking with other people. I can't even count with all my fingers and toes the amount of funny interactions I experienced in this game. The community is not that toxic as well, only if your self-esteem is low... I've seen worse

The "pls kick" is as funny as the legendary "door stuck". Epic.

As someone who enjoys both games they're great for each other they push both devs to actually make good changes finally

valorant is basically if tf2 and cs go had a kid and its community was raised by bronies
  • As a person who plays in Tokyo servers often, toxicity is non-existent 95% of the time. I had some weird encounters, but that comes from usually someone who is not Japanese. I think that servers make a big difference in gameplay experience. Even though we lose 13-3, people in Japanese servers thank each other, take the blame for losing, etc. Whereas sometimes in Hong Kong servers, they run their mouths with their downright bad ego thinking they are the hot shit.

CS has great longevity so it will be interesting how valorant keep their game fresh in the years to come :)
  • @leongranzow
Your experience with the communities of both games is interesting. I can't play Valorant with voice chat on because everytime I turn it on the teammates are toxic toward everybody, even in unrated and other more casual game modes.

The maps were definitely what kept me from playing Valorant as a long time CS player, but the peeker's advantage and very odd movement/gun feel that I for some reason couldn't grasp was a big factor as well. I used to also be heavily invested in the skin market and betting scene, because it's far more beginner friendly than trying to actually get into stocks while still being appealing to people who like that kind of thing. I remember doing tradeups and learning how all of that stuff worked back when people didn't understand float values and I could make some money off of it as a kid. Kind of wish we could go back to those days before everything was so heavily tied to money and hyper optimized due to how lucrative it can actually be, because it felt more like a community than nft and crypto kids who've played less than a hundred hours in total spending $10k on sticker capsules during sales.

Wish you'd mention workshop maps, big deal for people who want practice or funny maps to play with friends. Keep it up, great video.

The competitive cs:go community I feel is entirely separate from the custom gamemodes that I mainly play. A lot of my favorite people are from these surf and jailbreak servers.

I feel like one of the reasons I love Valorant so much is that I don't play duelists. I mostly play initiators and sentinels and then harbor sometimes as well. Not only do I rarely have to worry about insta-lockers but I find the joy of getting kills/making plays in general by using smart usage of my util so much more rewarding than just by rushing in. I bring this up because a lot of people seem to have a mindset of "only duelists are fun" which I feel like makes a lot of people lose interest in the game because they rarely experience everything it has to offer. I think the dynamic of allowing everyone to do everything in CSGO is interesting and was fun when I first tried it, but it kind of had a paradox of choice in that I didn't know what play style I would go for in each round and its more clear with the role system. The community is another big reason I tend to like Valorant more as well, I agree with what you said. I tend to just enjoy talking to people more on Val, but then again it has been quite some time since I last played CS. It doesn't sound like much has changed, though. Finally, I just like the "feel" of Valorant more. I don't know how else to describe it, I guess I like to way the movement and gun play feels more in Valorant than in CS.

i think gotv and workshop maps as well as the occasional operation in cs should definitely be another plus, and in future were getting CS2 which will make map creation way easier, so we will see even better workshop content and hopefully also better operations with much more content in them. Danger zone has gotten some nice updates and will work a lot better in CS2 and will allow for bigger maps, really hoping Valve doesnt go silent once they drop CS2.
