It's all estate planning. My guess is Jon reviewed it with his adult children and they agree not to sell. The value will increase for sure. The only problem is as Jon's kids have kids and the amount of people involve expands then it gets messy. I would not be surprised if Jon sells his catalogue as he reaches his late 70's.

Why sell your catalogue? If you want to give your family economic security. Sell it. But if they are economically secure, let the ownership of the catalog stay in the family. That way, your legacy will provide for generations.
