This is the story of one of the oldest myths in the game, one that originates all the way back in the alpha version. While most rumors are just that, this one was based on reality, and would eventually become true (kinda) as it found its way into the game years after first being discovered

I remember as a 10 year old kid I watched a youtube video about this mount and spent HOURS trying to get to this cave and then found out that there was no vendor and I was so disappointed. But eventually I got the swift zulian tiger which has been one of my favorite mounts forever.

I thought for a second this was gonna be a video about the green flourescent mechanostrider. Then i realized that the player that had been given that mount by accident and allowed to keep it lost it due to he trying to sell his account and the mount got removed.

Maybe they could make a questline including the mount and a tribute NPC for the player that got the mount to let them roam around Stranglethorn (or something like that).

The identical "Stranglethorn Tiger" is available as a donation mount for the private server, Turtle WoW. I'm kind of disappointed they implemented it that way. It would have been better to have it available to earn in-game through some crazy exploration feat, similar to the original rumour, IMO. Still, it's nice it's available in some capacity.

Slime Serpent is a bad example. Nobody figured out what you had to do to get it. In One patch a Hunter posted to Secret Finding Discord about him getting the mount after soloing Plaguefall, and other players started to do this and getting the mount. Sha of Anger mount would be a good example, due to it iirc not being implemented for a long time, and than becoming very low drop chance mount.

Wasn't there a unique Mechanostrider mount that only one player had? I think it was given to him by a GM by mistake but he was allowed to keep it.
