At least 3 people are dead, 1300 flights have been cancelled, Oil ports have been shut, 2.7 million homes and businesses were plunged into darkness. It could take days to restore power supply.
Beryl is the season's earliest Category 5 hurricane on record. Even though it has weakened from a hurricane to a tropical storm, it pounded the coastal Texas town of Matagorda with dangerous storm surges and heavy rain before moving across Houston. The agency said conditions could spawn tornadoes in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.
Beryl comes to Texas after charting a destructive path across the Carribean islands like Jamaica, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It has left in its wake a trail of destruction. 11 people were killed in Mexico and the Caribbean before it hit Texas.
In parts of Texas, residents are trying to help out in their own way....as they try to clear the clogged drains or remove the uprooted trees.

And this was just a Cat 1 when it hit and then was on land. I can only imagine when it entered the Caribbean as a Cat 5 traveling over more vulnerable structures! Itโs a miracle that there has not been greater loss of life. Continued strength, faith and determination to all confronting Berylโs aftermath.

THIS IS WORST THAN THIRD WORLD WHERE THERE IS LOAD SHEDDING. ST LEAST YOU KNOW THAT ELECTRICITY WILL COME BACK AFTER TWO OR ONE HOUR. IT'S TOO MUCH. FOOD IS EXPENSIVE MY SON NEEDS COOL TEMPERATURE DUE TO BEING UNWELL. WHERE WOULD I GET HIS DIABETIC SUPPLIES AND FOOD?
