Honestly as a midwesterner this is a vibe. Pretty sure i saw a cryptid on my drive home last night and just went "Ah, surprised they're still out this late in the year."

remember everyone! it’s fine, being alone in the woods when you hear the bugs, birds, animals, etc. that’s normal, comforting even. but it’s not so comforting when it’s all suddenly silent, or when you have that feeling of something being off (and these like to come as a pair). that’s when it’s time to gtfo. watch where you’re going, and be sure not to run yourself in circles if that happens.

oh don't worry, here in the Midwest we call that 'corn paranoia' or 'Children of the Corn Syndrome' (not even joking I've heard both of those unironically thrown out before), it happens to everyone, eventually you learn to not question why you can hear something rustling back there in the dead of night, or why you could practically swear that you hear breathing!

midwest gothic: learning at an early age to not stare into the corn too long

this is as midwestern as keeping a blanket in your car in case it breaks down in the winter, or going to the nearest walmart because you don't have anything else to do. great playlist!

Any who grows up in a rural area knows what its like to be walking in the woods and suddenly stop. "Hmmm. Nope." And you gtf out of there.

when i was younger i used to hate living in the Midwest but as i've grown up i realized that being the neighborhood cryptid isn't such a bad thing after all. i love midwestern gothic so much me and my friend are writing a comic based on it
  • That scarecrow might not be the only thing in the corn fields, but it's the thing you really gotta worry about.
  • @wack9923
Yeah, the scarecrow isnt the only thing. Theres something moving, creeping around, and just wandering.... Its you! :)
  • As a Midwesterner, I can confirm. Everything is normal here, but if you look around the wrong corner or stay up late enough, you might just find something you were not supposed to. And the by next morning, day, or week, you'll be forgotten, like the thunderstorm you disappeared in.

As a Midwesterner, i can confirm, the cornman always hunts me down for 3-5 business days everytime i go into a cornfield

Starting this with “come as you are” was the BEST choice EVER. I just started getting into nirvana, and it literally gave me chills. Amazing.

dead man’s bones is ryan gosling’s band btw guys. and mook is paul dano. pretty cool, some of my favorite actors make such scrumptious music
  • this playlist really gives the vibes of bored unsupervised teens fucking around with drugs and spooky shit in the woods of the deep south. though im also from the south so confirmation bias??🤷 can relate alot tho, very good playlist 👍 love me some american gothic throught the lens of a coming of age film

I live in the midwest, and when you drive during the night in winter it becomes a whole different place Also this playlist rocks!!
  • as a Cryptid that regularly visits random Cornfields, I heavily approve of this playlist. 😌👌✨ This playlist is awesome. you dropped this btw. 👑
  • What my brain sounds like when I play farming sims (I'm making up the town's elaborate dark past for no reason)

Grew up(emotionally, not physically. 0-7 isn't proper "growing up" from a medical standpoint) in the Midwest. Went back recently to visit, and it kinda feels like a distant memory of a home, like a heritage-based home. Great place, just be careful in winter and night, those are their most active times.

I live in the country. About a year ago one night I was driving home with my brother and this lanky tall white coyote type thing ran across the street and we almost hit it. It walked like a deer and we still have never seen anything like for as long as we lived here till now.
