Anyone that's been to Disney World knows that a chance to meet your favorite Disney characters can really add a lot to the experience. And as with anything Disney-food related, we want to help make sure that you know what you're getting into ahead of time. So, we wanted to take a few minutes to go over some of our favorite (and some of our least favorite) of Disney World's character meals.

I love Disney but I usually don't book character meals. When my son was four, we decided to have a meal in the Garden Grill. I had a 4 pm reservation, which was too early for dinner, but it was all that I could get. You can't believe our surprise when they told us we were the first ones. All the characters came at the same time for a family photo, and they started singing. I couldn't believe it! Apparently there is a celebration when the first person arrives to the restaurant.
  • I'm not saying 1900 fare is the best but all I know is that they literally let me take the entire platter of bacon at the buffet line. That has to count for something

I was expecting to hear Aj and I was so confused😂 But still a great video!!

I know it's weird but thanks for the honesty for the "worst". If I spend all that money at Disney and plan it for months, it's best for me to maximize my stay and eat at the better places

Crystal Palace was my favorite because Tigger came back three times to spend time with my son. They just loved each other so much and ran around playing together. That was a real special moment.

I would love to see how you rank ALL the character meals :)

we had crystal palace first thing on our last trip and loved it. My children are small and don't have the attention span for long visits. we also love ohana, my son cried because during the parade he wanted to walk with Pluto and missed it, so Pluto took him for a personal parade! So sweet. we hate Hollywood and vine, we did breakfast there the food was not good and the characters took a long time to come around.
  • My favourite character dining is the princess breakfast at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. We got to meet Cinderella, Ariel, Snow White, Jasmine and Belle in her yellow dress when we went this summer. A bonus with this one is you to witness the princess parade where the characters dance around with the little children, nearly burst out crying it was so precious!
  • I go to 1900 Park Fare every single time I visit Disney. I have never had a bad experience && I always see each characters at least twice.

I have to say that I completely agree with your choices. I also agree with some comments here about Hollywood and Vine being on the worst list. The atmosphere there is so loud and hectic that there is no opportunity to relax and enjoy the moment.

Thank you so much for these tips! I am definitely going to look into the Garden Grill!

We have a special needs child and we went to Crystal Palace for a "Brunch" Character Meal. The service was great (even though it's buffet) and it wasn't super busy at that time of day (which was important to us because it was our daughter's first time with the characters). Each Characters did get a chance to visit us twice (Pooh, Piglet, Eore and Tigger) plus there was a the parade around the dining room. If you have a younger child (or a younger developmental child) I would recommend this one. The natural lighting was an added plus since it helps to keep our daughter calmer than bright lights.

We loved Crystal Palace. Our server Kip (from Austalia) was so outstanding I actually e-mailed Disney when we got home to make sure everyone knew how great he was. Pooh is my favorite character so I was thrilled. I thought the food was great. Can't wait to go back.

I just came back from Disney world on our last night we went to Garden Grill for dinner and the food was amazing! It was pouring rain and we couldn't see outside characters all day only indoors. I was so happy to see the four characters at dinner especially Pluto!

I had a dreadful experience at 1900 Park Fare over 10 years ago and we never went back, I'm sad to see that it looks like it hasn't gotten any better.

The Step Sisters and Lady Tremaine are always out in the park. Every day at Magic Kingdom, near PFTH.
  • When we went to WDW in April 2017 we had a 4:00pm reservation for Garden Grill—such an awesome time! The restaurant was nearly empty, the food was pretty good, and we got to see each character at least twice. I highly recommend it (and wear a Chip & Dale shirt—they go crazy over that). :)

I think Hollywood & Vine is the best character dining I've ever had. The food was absolutely phenomenal and we got a lot of time with the characters because the restaurant is so small.
