Welcome to what could be our most exciting review EVER!

Mat’s got his hands on the McMurtry Spéirling, and he’s about to find out if it can back up its claim of being the quickest accelerating road car ever made!

Now before he even gets behind the wheel, you need to know that the McMurtry comes with a reputation! It's claimed the record as being the fastest car to complete the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb - beating an F1 car to the title by two whole seconds!

But what makes this lightning-fast single-seater so special? Well, it comes with an incredible fan system that helps to generate 2,000kg of downforce! This means the McMurtry is not only super quick off the line, but it can take corners at speed with ease.

In terms of power output, it has two electric motors that produce 1,000hp. Now you may not think that’s too impressive, given EVs such as the Rimac Nevera come with almost 2,000hp. However, whereas the Nevera weighs over 2 tonnes, the McMurtry Spéirling weighs less than one tonne!!

Now, of course, all that power and performance doesn’t come cheap, costing just under £2,000,000. But if the car can break records as it claims, then it’s got to be worth it, right?

All we know is, this is one review you don’t want to miss! Will Mat go faster than he’s ever been before? And more importantly, will he break some records?! There’s only one way to find out… Join us for this ultra-in-depth review and see for yourself!

0-60 in 1.4 seconds is actually something i did not think was possible, without it being a full on dragster. That's actually insane
  • @Presto_001
Fact: This channel has had 2 broken unofficial world records in 2 cars worth £2 million or more. Now, that is a well-deserved achievement to Mat, his team at carwow and the companies that created such insane hypercars.

I’ve gone 8.86 in the 1/4 mile and there are no words that can convey how brutal and mind blowing that feels. My eyes actually felt like the flattened out a bit and my vision became dark around the periphery. To go another second faster would be inconceivable. Matt, you lucky dog!
  • Congrats on the 1.4. That was fun to watch. That car is sooooo sweet. Designer and engineers deserve a medal
  • @Hzuuuu
The way the whole team cheered at the 7.97" record was just extremely wholesome. Not to mention they want anyone who owns a hypercar to race against them and let them drive theirs too. Their marketing and confidence in their car is just on point.
  • @alexz1232
Having an engineer on camera talk about the car in detail is priceless, cannot buy better marketing.
  • This is why this video has more views than any other video of the same car. Phenomenal production and a journalist who actually has humor instead of dull stats.
  • @ValentineNTT
That car feels like the small toy cars on springs that you pull back and launch super fast but in real size, it's absolutely amazing how fast it goes
  • @RedfishCarolina
0-60 in 1.4 seconds is astonishing for a leaf blower. Seriously though, all joking aside. These guys are engineering phenoms. What a magnificent car!
  • @Presto_001
It truly seems like Mat can get anything here on carwow. From high-end motorbikes to spitfires to hypercars, to F1 cars to now this absolute pocket rocket. You guys have really outdone yourselves here, so thank you very much for adding some excitement to our day!

Second time watching this. An absolute blast. Been 16 months and no news of anything coming close to it. Eye-watering.
  • @whiskeyssmile3082
Showing the race at the end where it caught up to that other car going 60 REALLY put this thing in perspective. Holy shit.
  • @Falcon5ive
The way they cheered for Matt's 7.97" record ❤
  • @tjwright
The look on his face when he launched it with full power was not one of fun, joy, giddiness, or amazement.... it was sheer horror and discomfort. That was epic!
  • @nonessentialoils
Apart from the incredible achievements of this car I have to mention the color of those wheels... stunning! That slightly purplish grey is subtle but looks so good.
  • @Maskltl
This was soooo much fun to watch. Excellent commentary and different scenarios. I haven’t been this excited about a car in a long time. I actually want one :-)

I just love how much trust and love McMurtry's people have for their product. I mean they help, and actually want, Mat get the most out of it, are all passionate, seems like a great company
  • @robert23497
Congratulations to the entire team at McMurtry. It is obvious that passion is all yours.
  • @tathagatahalder
Speechless! I cannot imagine how Mat was feeling during the launches! Probably epoch making historical turn of events feel like this!! Shivered a little actually while watching.
  • @stonemove4207
the whole car is very impressive, but one thing that stood out for me was* the Brake balance button where you choose to put more brakes in the front of the back. That is insane ! All cars should have that ! My front disk would be in better shape today if I had that !! Great video ! thanks for sharing !! Very impressive car
