What a wealth of experience on outdoor entertaining in a garden. Duly impressed that he’s been successful despite the salt air. I would love to see more videos like this one! Many thanks.

Really good information. I haven’t even considered an outside kitchen and this chap has had one for 10 years - and this video is 4 years old!

Excellent tips for outdoor kitchen. Lovely exotic planting in a small space - inspiring.

Thanks for this unique garden view. This is a style I could put to use. I would need different plants for my zone, but generally this is quite a functional small space. I especially loved the ironwood as a specimen tree. I have been considering dogwood for my space.
  • Lovely entertaining garden, indeed. Well done to Dan for creating such a beautiful space. I can't believe how clean his barbecue looks. :) You should see ours! I have it covered unless we need to use it. Ok, so you get what you pay for! :) I love the sheltered nature of the area and how the plants are brought in very close to provide that shelter. Such beautiful plants, too! Our outdoor entertaining area doesn't work very well as guests always sit there awkwardly for around five minutes, then ask, politely, "Why don't we eat inside?" So I have a long way to go to transform some part of the outdoor space into an entertaining area that guests will love.

Very helpful! Especially concerning using marine grade steel and the tip about evergreens rather than deciduous trees in this area although in Australia we mostly have enclosed pergolas. I’d love tips on where to begin after buying a new home with a partly established garden that needs improving. We’re house hunting at the moment and I get overwhelmed looking at some of the nice partly established gardens but don’t know where to start.

Lovely video. We are just in the middle of doing our own outdoor kitchen - nothing as fancy as this but inspiring nonetheless. I wish more people knew about your lovely content.
  • Very good advice here from Dan re quality of the stuff you buy. It hurts as you hand over all that cash for a great bit of kit, but you ALWAYS forget what you paid for things. My daphne is out now - what a fragrant plant! But it's winter so I'm not entertaining. Lovely video, and garden! Hey Alexandra - any chance of doing a video on how to display groups of pots? I want to have a herb garden, in large pots, near the kitchen, and would love any ideas you may have. Thanks!

What I liked about this video was his wisdom for using durable and appropriate faucet and grill for the salty sea air.

I don't have any plans for making a outdoor eating area but anything dealing with flowers & plants I'm very receptive to. So I am so glad that I watched his video because now I'm very interested in obtaining the American Dawn Dahlia - I have a shady area and that would be lovely to have in that area - thank you for sharing!!!!!

my q is if his out door kitchen, provided all the tools and small appliances to prepare a meal from start to the end without using the indoor kitchen at all? and in the winter does he bring his dinner were back to the house?
