The best way to learn Spanish (or certainly one of the best) is without a doubt with the free video series Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish. This is how I first learned Spanish many years ago, and through a charming story, its excellent input-based approach, and careful pedagogical construction, anyone can master the basics of Spanish by just watching all 52 episodes. All the videos and exercises for Destinos can be found at the Annenberg Learner website: www.learner.org/series/destinos-an-introduction-to… 🇪🇸 🇲🇽 🇦🇷

  • Back in high school Spanish class, the new Destinos episode was always the highlight of our week. Everyone was so engrossed in the story, it didn't even feel like we were intentionally learning Spanish in the moment- we just wanted to find out what happened next!
  • @Andrew.Schlei
"Un melon, dos naranjas". We watched these in high school and people I know still reference and quote it 25 years later, so it definitely sticks with you.
  • Utilissimo questo tuo video! Ho appena finito di guardarmi tutta la serie! Grazie Mille!
  • @troyrowe7670
I took Spanish through high school, and I very much remember Destinos
  • @jessicamann684
In fact, some of the places in these episodes are now bookmarked to my google maps so that I can try to see some of the real places that are in these episodes (and take picures, of course).
  • @ojovideo
I’ve used the series to teach Spanish. Most of my students have liked it.
  • @Cyclonus2377
Mis profesores en la universidad utilizaron con frecuencia Destinos, en nuestros cursos. Por lo menos en nuestros primeros dos años. Era una buena manera para empezar consumir contento español, y para entrenar nuestras orejas. 🙂🙂🙂🙂
  • Thanks to this video I have discovered Destinos, which is really excellent ! Now I understand better that "one does not learn languages by actively learning but by understanding" ! I am so into the show that I almost forget this is a foreign language I am listening to !
  • This is very good, Luke. Spanish is the (new) Latin of our times. So widespread, so many accents, and many cultures embracing it. It's very important in the United States. This is a practical romance language to learn and understand.
  • @mep6302
So nice to hear you speaking Spanish. I hope everyone has a wonderful learning journey with Spanish or the language you're currently learning. Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷👋
  • @myspanishdiary
7:28 you narrated it so well! I’m watching Destinos rn and I’m loving it
  • Man, I have so many language learning projects and now you’ve added another. I’m gonna have to quit my day job soon.
  • @Manuel-bj2ug
As a native Spanish speaker I agree. I really like how they portray each accent and culture
  • @keshhan6412
Yes! Finally, someone other than myself who still admires Destinos. It played on local TV here in Trinidad and Tobago when I was in high school. I enjoyed it and was able to follow quite well, unfortunately I never became fluent in Spanish.

Minuto 0:24
  • Just four days ago started to learn Spanish. Then I can learn Catalan easily.
  • Wholeheartedly agreed, Luke. I started studying Spanish in 1994. I've always been good with languages, so I picked it up fast. Outside of school during the summer, though, I found Destinos airing daily on PBS, which allowed me to get ahead and develop some knowledge of complex grammar and vocabulary long before those concepts were actually introduced in my classes. I now have a degree in Spanish and speak it fluently. My husband doesn't speak much but has long wanted me to teach him. Guess how I plan to do so? ;) I've bought the textbook and listening comprehension CD's and we'll go through everything as fast or as slow as we want. I've told him that within two or three years, he should be more than proficient enough to travel with me to Spain, which is one of our top destination goals. We've even talked about staying at the Príncipe de Vergara Hotel in Madrid (where Raquel stays during her time there). De un Lucas a otro, ¡gracias por todo lo que haces! Me encanta tu canal. Mejores deseos desde Dallas, Texas. :)
