I defended Southgate for quite a while but damn that is some of the worst, most uninspiring football I’ve ever seen. What the hell is going on with this team the tactics and cohesion are just not there we are really going to go out at the QF again. Whyyyyyyy????😢😢😢

C'mon man, he just needs more time, give him 5 more tournaments before making any harsh decision. Kalvin Phillips might be free of injury by then

As a german i would like to thank southgate and deschamps for their inspiring fluent and aggressive football. Really nice of them to give other nations a chance.

The thing is, as a Frenchman, we got the same problem with Didier Deschamps with a very pragmatic approach to the game of football. The other side of the coin is the results: 2016 Finalists 2018 World Cup Winner and 2022 World Cup Finalist, and we nearly won the bloody thing despite being ABSOLUTELY DOMINATED DURING 80 (FKN) MINUTES... in 202Ø-1 When we were eliminated by switzerland, everyone in france, pundits, journalists, even in social media, went on Deschamps' throat and begging for his sacking to replace with Zinedine Zidane... despite being victorious on the last 2 international tournaments (yes, I include the Nations League) so I can understand the Gareth Southgate problem in England...

Ivory Coast won AFCON by sacking their manager after the group stage. Just saying you know...

I bet the most exotic thing Southgate puts in his food is salt

As a Romanian, my main concern for the English National Team is how they're wasting their golden generation with this style of play. Going conservative against Serbia or Slovenia isn't going to win you the tournament, And the mentality of defence wins games isn't wrong but isn't right either, if you're a top national team with all kinds of players, I'm sure you can control the game by keeping possession and having a really good attack. And if Southgate doesn't realise this, imagine the horror against bigger national teams like Germany who if they score, won't stop attacking. All the best though at the Euros

"do you know how hard it is to top the group at a major tournament, and still be booed" this.
  • @memelife1204
England keep reinforcing the phrase “it’s the hope that kills you” because every single hopeful English fan get their dreams crushed consistently because of southgate’s incompetence. England should be better than this but unfortunately they have a League 1 or Championship level manager ruining all their amazing talent which should’ve absolutely been dominating football along with France for a while now

Irishman here. The style of play England are playing is how WE should be playing. It’s the way underdogs should play. If Ireland was playing Slovenia or Serbia and went 1-0 up, it would make sense for us to then sit back because we’re trying to maximise every result we can get. But England is completely different. The team England are able to field is an incredible one. Your starting XI is genuinely one of the best I’ve ever and anyone else has ever seen on paper. It’s out of this world with talent. A team like this should be let loose. Don’t settle for 1-0. Go and get another. This is the kind of team that needs to be pushed and set free in terms of style. (Side note: I am still Irish so it’s been great seeing England play like this and I genuinely hope it continues for the next 100 years until I’m dead) 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪

I knew he wasn’t good enough since the Croatia game. The man had the easiest routes to finals that I’ve ever seen in over 30 years of watching football. He’s beyond predictable and England have no chance of winning a competition with him in charge.
  • @PoliAstroN
As someone not English, the England national team are absolutely dreadful. It is genuinely shocking how bad you are. Why Southgate has stayed manager for 8 years is beyond me.
  • @NYCfrankie
I'm Italian and I'd give anything for 🇮🇹 to have someone like Cole Palmer or Ivan Toney our lack of an offensive threat is embarrassing yes we have Chiesa but he's a not a goal scorer he's a creative player and Scamacca is USELESS yet 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 have this wealth of offensive fire power on the field and the bench yet when they score Southgate sits back like he has prime Maldini Cannavaro Baresi or Bonucci and Chiellini back there its really mind boggling
  • @GoodwinHD
And 13 days later we're in the final.. Football is a crazy game lmao

I remember when Belgium were first starting to show signs of their golden generation losing their edge, Roberto Martinez played in a way that compensated their weaknesses instead of capitalizing on their strengths, because the weaknesses were more pressing than the strengths were strong. Southgate's doing the same thing, but the strengths here are really fuckin' strong. You've got a young team and you don't press, probably the best attack in international football and you're playing in such a pessimistic cautious manner, a defense that let's face it, isn't exactly world class, and you're playing uber-defensive football, one of the best right backs in the world playing in defensive midfield, one of the best 10s in the world playing on the wing, and 3 of the best players in the prem this season making cameo appearances like Ryan Reynolds in that Fast and Furious movie. His strategy is anti-everything England's team is good at, that's why they suck.
  • Southgate is spineless and too afraid to make changes. Before the Slovenia game, Goldbridge said "I guarantee you, he won't change the team except he will take out TAA and put Gallagher in" and look what happened.
  • My game plan would be to play two up top. Basically a 4-1-2-1-2. A glorified 4-4-2. The defence is doing fine. Trippier is the only weak link because he is out of position because we took one left back. CDM: Rice with Mainoo as the sub replacement. Wharton third choice. left; Gordon with Eze as sub option, Right: Saka with Palmer as sub option. Bellingham behind the strikers free role box to box. Double pivot off the ball, behind the strikers with it. Foden can be the second choice (he has gone home for his kid, so he might be out now). Kane and Watkins up front, together. Kane works well in partnerships. Especially a fast counter part like his time with Son. Watkins can be the leg man. Kane likes to drop deep he can feed Watkins, While Watkins can create space for Kane. Toney as Kane's sub after 60-70 minutes. Bowen can be Watkins under study. That's my smooth brain, no coaching badge opinion.

Southgate is the kind of person to buy insurance for a pencil
