Man, he took his time in the --- sun Had a dream to under --- stand A single grain of --- sand He gave birth to --- poetry But one day'll cease --- to be Greet the last light of the --- library One hell of a poetry! Tuomas is a wizard turning emotions into musical poetry, his magician hat is the perfect match!

This remastered version is absolutely amazing. The greatest song ever written. Thank you Tuomas and Nightwish.

My favourite song, after Ghost Love Score, an incredible epic, a true classic that for me is thought provoking, beautiful & a masterpiece. Incredible. I cannot really explain how amazing it is! Floor Jansen's vocals are so powerful.. this is so unique ( and the sounds of dolphins etc..) 💚💚💚

For those who ask what the song is about, here is what I see 0:00 -1:32 Nothing exists but silence and nothing in the void 1:32 - 1:55 A bright light pierces the void with explosions and the universe begins 1:55 - 2:30 Gases turn to stars, stars, into galaxies. The universe starts taking shape 2:30 We now focus on a molten sphere orbiting a young star. Suddenly another large molten object collides with the first at 2:39. The molten sphere swallows it up but ejects a smaller molten body which begins orbiting the other. 2:44 debris belts the larger sphere and eventually our perspective falls into the clouding atmosphere at 2:51 2:51- 3:19 The atmosphere is thick and nothing can be seen. 3:19 we break through the atmosphere to see a hellish landscape of molten rivers and oceans of rock with flaming mountains pumping out thick plumes of ash and molten rock. We travel along this landscape more closely and we tilt to the horizon. 3:42 We are now in view of the horizon and lava flows from the mountains with a thick black cloud over head. But suddenly at 3:53 the clouds clear and a black sun pierces through and is the first sunrise on earth. 4:05 - 4:29 we begin moving across the molten ocean with islands of rock rising from them. All the while the sun shines while rock from the heavens falls though the atmosphere in long streaks of light 4:29 - 4:49 everything is black because we have not yet awakened 4:49 - We awaken to modern day to lush green forests and mountains with cascading water falls, grassy landscapes, etc 5:35 - 5:46 everything goes black 5:46 - 6:28 We quickly see Billions of years go by as the earth transforms during the Archean and Proterozoic periods. The crust cools and plate tectonics occurs, and the continents are born. 6:28 -6:57 we see our Solar system and the blue gem were the story begins 6:57- 10:08 life begins and evolves through millions of years from the smallest creatures in the sea to eventually the largest dinosaurs on the surface. 10:08 - 10:22 we suddenly focus back into space and see a large rock heading right for the planet 10:22 - 10:36 the asteroid breaks atmosphere and lights up the sky. Animals look up curiously. 10:36 - 10:51 the asteroid hits the surface and the shock wave rips through the clouds. Soon the fire ball rushes over the tallest mountains and reaches us and everything goes black once again. 10:51 - 11:15 the earth has changed 11:15 - We open to a forest and something is lurking. 11:53 suddenly a spear pierces a tree and the story of man begins 11:53 - 14:22 lyrics explain themselves. we quickly see the rising of nations throughout history 14:22 a bomb hits the ground and we see the start of WW1 machine gun fire, the first tanks and chaos. 14:31 A plane drops its bombs during WW2 14:36 - We see many leaders of nations through the time periods from 1940-2000, Hitler, Stalin etc 14:48 We now see modern day of man and what has become of the world. 15:38 Armageddon, the end of man is occurring due to the forces of either nature, or from what we have done to our selves. Great monuments of man and cities fall like trees in a strong wind 16:03 now we get a reflection of what we are leaving behind and our legacy. We see massive landscapes of trash, contaminated waters, oil spills, fires , human suffering, and this is what we have to show that we were here. 16:28 the chapter of man has come to a close 16:53 we awaken once again to see modern day and everything is well but in our hearts we are uncertain. 17:59 we look now away from civilization and enter back into the beautiful landscapes of earth over vast desert of sand. We reflect on life. 19:16 now we see and witness the epic power and landscapes of our earth. from vast oceans and water falls to powerful eruptions of rock. You see our chapter on how we come to an end has not yet been written and we have some control in writing that chapter. We must take care of the rock that provided us a start or it will remove us from it. We are nothing when compered to the aeons of the past. This life we have we must try to enjoy to the fullest. Go out into nature and witness and shudder before the beautiful and be part of the greatest show on earth.

As I listen to this in awe on July 15th 2020...I cannot help but pity the 53 vacuous souls that downvoted this legendary track..
  • @johnorourke3969
One of the greatest songs ever written. And Nightwish has loads of these apart from this masterclass in songwriting from the genius that is Tuomas.
  • @helenamunoz4500
Me eleva el espíritu los grandiosos sonidos del poderoso océano y el canto de las ballenas! Es alucinanteeee.... 😱😭
  • @JUANANGEL1969
Sin duda, la mejor de todas las creaciones de NIGHTWISH.
  • @jakubfranek9995
Damn, how Is this such genius and wonderful. Even the music itself tells the story, and word are filling it just prescisely. Can't get myself to sleep od not played it like four times in a row. Can't believe how nightwish, my beloved band, and my interest in universe and evolution of the Earth fit together in this masterpiece. Click play and prepare to be amazed!
  • Masterpiece. And just a trivial notice, how Floor sings the section at 7:57 : something really dramatic in the way she sings it. Awesome.
