We frequently ask ourselves to be not merely good, but perfection. Our perfectionism makes us sick. We need to learn to accept the virtue of being ‘good enough’.

“High ambitions are noble and important, but there can also come a point when they become the sources of terrible trouble and unnecessary panic. One way of undercutting our more reckless ideals and perfectionism was pioneered by a British psychoanalyst called Donald Winnicott in the 1950s. Winnicott specialised in relationships between parents and children. In his clinical practice, he often met with parents who felt like failures: perhaps because their children hadn’t got into the best schools, or because there were sometimes arguments around the dinner table or the house wasn’t always completely tidy…”

"In order to remain more or less sane, which is a big ambition already........" Hit me like a truck

A wise professor of mine said, "Practice makes a little better.". I love that! It takes away the pressure to be perfect, without suggesting you should give up.
  • I felt a weight lift off my shoulders. Why hadn't I ever considered that good enough was good enough!?

i saw the notification for this and the title just hit me. good enough is good enough. somehow i've never been able to accept that before.
  • @FullPerception
You have to develop the knowledge that you are good enough! Once you master your psychology and emotions, nobody can steal that love from you, not even yourself.

It's refreshing to hear these things even though we know them far in the back of our minds. "It takes a great deal of effort just to maintain an otherwise normal life." THANK YOU, cuz I was starting to feel like it came easy for everyone else.

Who else spends 3 minutes on video and 30 minutes reading comments? 😂
  • I am a perfectionist. My father always told me to shoot for the sun so even if you fail you will land on the moon. But i guess moon is not good enough for me and i always feel like a failure :|

this is what i think about everyday. "am i not good enough" or "it could've been better." at some point i regret for even being human and always seeks perfection. but after seeing this video i realized that being perfect is not everything and flaws does not make you any less special. thank you for this inspiring video, i really needed it after a rough day. i guess i'm good enough :)

this idea is the core of the movie Paterson( 90 on metacritic), which is about a man who just goes about his ordinary life and still is the hero of the story. Defently worth to watch.

This channel literally is a life saver. Cannot express gratitude enough.
  • i hope you guys realise how amazingly life changing this video will be for almost everybody who watches it (including me), in accepting their good enough jobs, good enough relationships and good enough lifes. Being satisfied is the easiest way to happiness :)

I have been suffering from anxiety due to being a perfectionist. My mom and my sister keep on saying that I should just do whatever best in my ability. I think they have the same idea as what the video is about, being good enough. However, as perfctionist, I am used to see things on the extreme. So, even when people say: "Do your best in your ability" or "It's enough to be good enough", I still feel like I am not doing my best or I am not good enough. This kind of thinking results me in feeling incompetent and it really destroy my confidence.

I saw God today. Farmers daughter That one song about cancer with the rascal flats, also the one about God bless the broken road. These country songs are all about celebrating the simple man and simple values, and while I prefer techno music myself and honestly despise country music because I was around it so long, I believe that the values it incorporates are timeless. So listen to an old country song, the quivering violin and familiar hymn of the guitar, and listen to that soul in the song.
  • As someone living with a traumatic brain injury this concept is old hat. I am to some extent grateful for having a really difficult disability that's misunderstood by both the general public and medical/mental health professionals alike. It has given me no choice but to develop my character as a person much quicker than most do. At the end of the day I have had no choice but to realize what truly matters in life. For that I am ever thankful. My life can be excruciatingly difficult, but it's not at all wasted. I have been given a great gift to live for things that truly matter. I like these videos, they reconfirm what I take away from a constant, unrelenting struggle. That makes me feel good and encouraged.

I find myself breaking down and crying in a lot of these videos. The warm tone of the art and the voice doesn't make it less so easier
  • @gamo9248
I'm slowly but surely becoming addicted to your videos.
