"I've never met a carb-addicted person after a stressful day who rushed to the fridge for brocoli." Laughed out loud.

I decided to cheat last night and ate a hamburger bun. It was delicious. This morning my arthritic knees are on fire. It was not worth it.

Where the hell has this guy been? I've been shouting the addiction quality of carbs for years. I have known I was a carb addict for years, but the establishment medical gurus keep pushing that insane food pyramid and demonize fat. It's such a relief to find a doctor who knows what the hell he's talking about.

As a 30 year gout sufferer (71 YO), I found the following: Gout can be in any joint of the body - however most prevalent in the big toe. I had one attack in neck, many others in various joints. MD treatment and pharma meds on a daily basis did not stop my gout attacks. Gave up this strategy after about 3 years. Avoiding high purine foods and alcohol did not stop my attacks. Exercise and natural remedies helped more than any of the above. My daily cocktail was and still is: Dark cherry juice, turmeric, ACV, celery seed, fresh lemon juice w/pulp, cinnamon, black pepper. Even with the above cocktail the attacks become more frequent with age. Keto diet stopped all pain and swelling in 10 days. After that I switched from Keto to High Fat/Low Carb diet. Now, after 4 months, gout and related symptoms are still gone. I eat many foods that are on the DO NOT EAT if you have gout lists. Asparagus, mushrooms, pork, bacon, red meats, etc. Still drink some beer but in lesser amounts and it's low carb. Weight has decreased by 13 lbs. (now at ideal weight for my height) Blood pressure has decreased from ~150/78 to 120/71. Sleep is much better..... SUGAR is the ENEMY.

"If you have to count numbers to stay on a diet, the diet will fail." You can't sustain that long term. So so true. I take notes from your lectures and this is a golden nugget.
  • I canโ€™t believe how much I really needed you in my life. Between you & Dr. Berry my life has changed so much. Thank you.

I had dietitians discourage me from skipping carbs because "eliminating food groups is unhealthy." Then they hit me with the "everything in moderation, balance is key" cliche. At that point they're willfully omitting the fact that carbs have addictive properties. Nobody would tell an addict "everything in moderation". Same applies with food. Needless to say, its obvious these "professionals" were pushing an agenda.
  • I would like to share my story with you. 65 pounds weight loss on keto with veggies. I was on a vegan diet for years and couldn't lose the weight . I was 218, now 153 ! I run a mile a day now. Something I could have never done with out keto!
  • No one came home from a rough day and binged on broccoli! ๐Ÿฅฆ Got it! ๐Ÿ‘Œ Thank you, Dr. Rob!
  • โ€œKale ๐Ÿฅฌ is just this leaf that goes in your face and comes out your buttโ€ LoL ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ put that on a T-shirt ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

I have adopted a ketogenic diet, but I love my veggies too! I also love avacado ... and strawberries/melons. I so agree that veggies are good for us as long as they are not starchy. Of course, meat, chicken, and eggs are the most important part of my diet. I feel so much better when I cut the bread and starches out.

Someone told me once that it was harder to quit carbs for him than it was to quit alcohol.

This man is a godsend ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’• So honest, sensible, and not afraid to share the truth, where a lot of doctors lack.

I can barely find words to express how life changing this video in particular was for me.
  • @Lauramt2287
Your videos have been life-changing for me. I was a total carb-addict, I've been going keto strong for 6 months and have lost 60 pounds! Thank you! Keep up the videos. Love them.
  • Thank you so much doctor. I grew up in a poor village eating veg and wild fruits. Then I came where I am . And stuffed my body with sugar cakes candies fizzy ,pizza I thought it was a dream. I then had Ulcer active colitis ,my body was kicking our all the junky food I was feeding it with. I went back to live in the garden and am better. I eat as much as veg and fruit I want. I eat meat as well. All cooked at home
  • He is the only Dr. who talks about vegetables and keto. I crave vegetables and will eat them with meat Thank you.
  • I conclude from this video since (the only available) commercial raised animals and their products are nutritionally insufficient, leafy vegetables to accompany such meats are a must for me. Also I noticed many times when I stop eating vegetables my weight loss stopped. Very glad to hear that some beans are back.
