Come along as we hunker down in our RV through a Texas Storm that has us worried sick. We dropped the ball in preparing for bad weather through tornado alley. To our surprise, the locals even were concerned when we showed up to the RV park.

Unfortunately, there aren't many places to seek out shelter from a storm when living in an RV. We want to share this experience with you and some great resources that can help you be better prepared when RVing through the midwest.

Ryan Hall is legit. Every RVer should be pulling him up when the wether is bad. Don’t be scared, be prepared! #thankshanks
  • I watch Ryan Hall a lot. He and his team have saved many lives as well as raised money to help victims of tornados!
  • @pamh7038
I trust Ryan Hall forecasting He is always super close with what is happening. Y’all on the other hand make my heart happy
  • @cris_miko
Ryan Hall is my go-to. He can cover seven states with severe weather at the same time. His 501c team goes directly to those who need immediate help with recovery.

We stayed at that Harvest Host Winery - Bar Z. We had a great time. The owner was very friendly and showed me his high performance BMW. Had pizza delivered and watched a NFL football game. We would definitely stay there again.

I use a 50 amp to 15 amp pigtail all the time. It plugs into the 50 amp plug on the RV then I run a 15 amp extension cord from there. It is so much easier than wrestling with a 50 amp cord when you only are plugging into a 15 amp outlet. Especially handy when boondocking and running my 2000 watt generator.

Ryan has not let me down yet. He does all extreme weather not just tornados .
  • LOL at Carl casually 7:22 strolling outside in his dad robe!!! 😂 I’ve never seen that move in an RV Park

We love Ryan Hall, Y’all and his Xtra channel! (But we love you guys bigger!) So glad you got through it unscathed. We opted to stay in Clyde, TX for the eclipse, so we missed totality. I hated it but we just couldn’t trust the weather in the Dallas area. Just FYI: In Grand Prairie, TX there’s a campground called Loyd Park at Joe Pool Lake. So nice! Close to shopping and dining. Seems like y’all don’t get much time to just hang out and be quiet, but if you find yourselves in that area again, it’s a pretty nice campground. As always, THANKS HANKS for all you do for us! It truly makes our RVing experiences better! Smooches to Dexter! 🐱
  • @annettebrown184
We love & support Ryan Hall,Y’all. He and his team are our go to whenever weather comes alive. Especially when we’re home in LaPlace, LA.. He’s called out our street before for a tornado.. ❤️ your adventures!
  • @gypsycrossroads
Ah the Bar Z Winery, good choice! Danette was born and raised in Amarillo. After I meet her at Disneyland, I moved from Porter Ranch, CA to Amarillo to be with her. We moved to sister city, Canyon, TX where we had our bike shop. I always got a kick out of the Chamber of Commerce brochure that said, ..."a gentle breeze flows over the plains." They failed to mention it was at 30 to 40 knots! HOLD ON TO DEM DOORS!!! lol
  • @kerrijesmer8402
We've watched you guys for about 3 years now (along with 5 other full timers). Husband retires in Nov. Wednesday, we bought our RV!!!!! We'll sell our house soon and live full time in our 5th wheel. Time to see all of the US. Thanks Hanks for all the support and encouragement! We hope to see you on the road (We're in Utah now but from CO)!
  • Oh WOW…Watching your video last evening, we noticed the Airstream captured (08:31) at the Amarillo Harvest Host was us!!! We love your videos…Keep them coming!
  • @dalejohnson1752
If you were from the mid-west, you would go out side when the warning sirens go off and stand in the yard and watch for the tornado. And if you see or hear it, then run for cover! It is just what we do!
  • @andreaw.5610
Ryan Hall, Y’all is my go to weather guy. I love his channel and all he does for victims of extreme weather.
  • @firemarshal17
We are not regretting our decision to turn around in New Mexico and skip the eclipse. Glad you are safe.
  • You’re a 5er, don’t worry about leaving later at a HH if it’s reasonable (when the open or 10ish in our experience)! Our current theory: class C’s, cans and travel trailers are in a rush and leave quicker. Class A’s and 5ers tend to go regular pace and leave after their regular morning routine.
  • Love Ryan Hall too! We dodged some pretty serious storms in our RV travels due to his weather reports!
