Broadly teams up with Academy Award-winning director, Lucy Walker in search of healing in Haiti. We travel to the heart of Port-au-Prince, Haiti to join Priestess Manbo Katy as she summons the spirits to help heal her community. Six years after the 2010 earthquake, which killed more than 160,000 and left over a million people without a home, Haiti is still in dire need of physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

Katy comforts all those who orbit in her sphere, feeding their stomachs and their souls with a combination of financial support and traditional Vodou healing practices. We follow Katy and those whose lives she’s touched as they gather, adorn the temple, and prepare for the celebration of the dead, an immersive and transformative ceremony that will call on the spirits to protect the community.

Damn I didn't realize how lovely Creole is to listen to!

The video had me crying at the end. Our people have been through so much. Every single black person no matter our place of origin we go through so much and we still know how to smile in the end

2:55 she shut his ass down so quick. She knew and felt the underlying context of his words and what his eyes said. Want to know a truth, look in the eyes.

This priestess is so majestic and clearly such a beautiful soul. She is living proof that voodoo is such a misunderstood faith. One which has been demonised by western media, and not given credit as what it truly is- a non dictatorial religion which stands for black liberation.

She is filled with such positive energy. Such a beautiful person.

Seeing this makes me so teary. The strength in these people are something that can’t be thought. I have the deepest respect for anyone who will give their life to serve others. May the highest bless you all. You remind me of home.

Shoutout to all my Haitians practicing a traditional African spiritual system. And shoutout to all my Christians who accept and are tolerant of other people's beliefs. One Love

So many of ya'll keep calling them crazy. Have you ever considered that there are things in life beyond what we can see and touch? Spirits exists. There are so many mysteries that science cannot explain.
  • I love the fact that she showed ppl all voodoo isn't evil.. I want to learn to speak creole so bad. It seems like her soul is beautiful and her energy.. would love to meet her.
  • In my opinion this is a beatiful piece, done with respect. It helped me understand a little more of the Haiti vudu, I am aware of the cuban santeria part but this made me tear up. The lady in the video seems humble and with a good heart, just like Haitian people.
  • I'm over here reading the damn subtitle just to remember I speak creole LOLOL

I come from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, and I can recognize a person who has Boddhisattva- like qualities, as this compassionate, healing woman, who has an abundance of loving kindness to share with her People. This was so wonderful to learn about Haiti's spiritual traditions, and also this woman who is carrying the weight of so many.
